Moderator Guidelines

Moderator Guidelines

  • Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
  • Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
  • When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
  • Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
  • Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
  • Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
  • Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
  • Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
  • Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
  • Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
  • Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
  • Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
  • First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
  • Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
  • No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
  • Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
  • Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.

Turns out the lettuce was more intelligent also

[–] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 30 points 3 days ago

Like that wasn't obvious from the start?

[–] tangentism@beehaw.org 8 points 2 days ago

There was never a doubt!

Why does she still get attention?

She speedran meaningfully damaging an already damaged economy when given power in days. Her ideas demonstrably lack merit.

Unless her following is literally just people waiting for her to say something else stupid

[–] essell@lemmy.world 15 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Mostly because she says stuff like this, and it gets attention.

It is pretty funny. Outside of the current global climate, it's pretty funny.

we should form an underground transgender mafia

[–] SSETranquility@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago

Looks like it's already in full swing. Just in case you're looking... I have a very reputable kitkat source for the next few weeks...

[–] lyralycan@sh.itjust.works 58 points 3 days ago (4 children)

Holy shit, and here I thought organized trans crime conspiracies were exclusively American Republican. Why does everything stupid or regressive that comes out of the USA get parroted over here.

quick note, if anyone wants kitkats at a super low price hmu

[–] Dojan@pawb.social 33 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Hold on, ensure Nestle loses money, and you’d fund trans people? Fucking sign me up! This is a fantastic idea! We need an underground trans mafia that steals chocolate to resell.

[–] lyralycan@sh.itjust.works 6 points 3 days ago

I'm gonna take this idea to Pride lol

[–] FateOfTheCrow@lemmy.blahaj.zone 19 points 3 days ago

The spread of american idiocy to a global scale isn't a coincidence. It's a combination of homegrown grifters who see the grift over there working, and a concerted effort by the Epstein Class to spread their influence abroad.

[–] NABDad@lemmy.world 10 points 2 days ago

Where do you think America got their stupid people from? Did you think Europe stopped making them after they sent them here?

[–] Ziglin@lemmy.world 8 points 3 days ago

I'll take one :3

[–] Berengaria_of_Navarre@lemmy.world 32 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Because the world is the way it is right now I just need to check. This is satire, right?

Oh gimme a break

[–] HaunchesTV@feddit.uk 23 points 2 days ago (1 children)

What exactly are the trans mafia running a racket on? Knee high socks?

[–] TwilitSky@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

I'm kind of surprised the Liz made it 44 days against the lettuce.

[–] barnaclebutt@lemmy.world 20 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I say that Liz Truss is actually just one giant cunt.

Lettuce not listen to this grifter.

[–] IAmNorRealTakeYourMeds@lemmy.world 16 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Oceans 11 trans remake when?

[–] grrgyle@slrpnk.net 4 points 2 days ago

But actually

[–] Smorty@lemmy.blahaj.zone 25 points 3 days ago

sounds... probable.

maybe they can share some <3

[–] Borger@lemmy.blahaj.zone 11 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

Yes it is! Good one though lol

[–] ratsnake@lemmy.blahaj.zone 28 points 3 days ago (3 children)

I'm gonna be real, my ability to detect satire has been thoroughly eroded over the last decade

[–] luthis@lemmy.nz 8 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Wait it's not real? It got me. The world is really in a state if I can read this and think it's real. I'd never heard of this woman but the shit that some people say made this just on the edge of believability. I feel like in 2000s or the 90s people weren't so stupid.

[–] ratsnake@lemmy.blahaj.zone 11 points 3 days ago (4 children)

"I've never heard of this woman" is perhaps the most scathing thing ever said about a former UK Prime Minister

Ma'am, we've got better shit to do

[–] tacosanonymous@mander.xyz 9 points 2 days ago

And much better food to eat.

[–] 0ops@piefed.zip 12 points 2 days ago
[–] nutbutter@discuss.tchncs.de 18 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Fuck Nestle

This means stealing KitKats is okay, maybe?

[–] Svartis@piefed.blahaj.zone 26 points 3 days ago

stealing from large coorperarions is always okay :3

[–] gndagreborn@lemmy.world 15 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Honestly, that would be a hilarious trade. A transgender mafia trading chocolate for estrogen.

[–] hovercat@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 2 days ago

Are you kidding me? Shot day is when I crave chocolate the most, I'm not giving that chocolate away.

[–] Rozauhtuno@lemmy.blahaj.zone 17 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Shit, they're onto us.

Who snitched?

[–] Munkisquisher@lemmy.nz 10 points 3 days ago

Sorry it was me, I spilled my breakfast on the cat and exclaimed "bloody underground trans mafia strikes again"

[–] pyre@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago

mad-libs headline?

also kudos to truss on having no shame and still showing her face to humans

[–] TheTechnician27@lemmy.world 15 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)
[–] pringus@lemmy.blahaj.zone 7 points 2 days ago

being in an underground transgender mafia would fix me

[–] rustydrd@sh.itjust.works 6 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

That sounds... awesome! Like, I want this to be true, underground transgender mafia, hell yeah!!

[–] Godric@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago

No one knew what the fuck you stood for. Political fucking mist - no substance, no weight. You've got all the charm of a rotting teddy bear by a graveside.

So now, please, just fuck off back to your hole you headless frump, and prepare for your column in Grazia."

[–] TigerAce@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 3 days ago

I suggest Liz Truss is a piece of shit

[–] davetortoise@reddthat.com 4 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Everyone look for a suspiciously KitKat-shaped Italian trans person!
