With the news that Google’s search engine completely switching over to AI, is there anything out there that can replace it? DuckDuckGo’s results have been pretty awful recently, and when I pulled up Yandex the only option it gave me was to use their AI search.

https://marginalia-search.com/

It's explicit goal is to be anti-ai and non-commercial. It's also open source so you can run your own crawler. It's a small operation so it'll probably be slow.

In lieu of responding to everyone individually THANK YOU I love you, going to try all of these out and see how they go

You can always set up a Searxng instance and configure it to use as many or as few search engines as you like. It doesn't pull in the AI results.

Duckduckgo has always gotten me whatever I need, so their lite version can be used alongside ublock origin on Firefox for an AI free ad free search. But hey, if you're not finding what you like, I'd say give the searxng solution a try.

https://www.metacrawler.com/
https://www.mojeek.com/
https://www.kagi.com/

That's all I could find negative

I haven't broken and paid for Kagi yet (or done the free trial) but between metacrawler and mojeek, mojeek gave me better results.

For 10$/months it's super annoying to have a search engine that blocks your VPN.

kagi has ai, it's just not the default result, it's a button you can click on top of your results, or it automatically answers with ai if you put a question mark in your search

Is it? Seems fine to me, I've been using it as my default search engine for almost a decade.
