Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

But he doesn't look like a drag queen.

He actually looks like the picture in the dictionary beside "pedophile".

[–] skozzii@lemmy.ca 7 points 8 hours ago

Gee, I wonder why so many Republicans support Trump after learning he was a pedo.

Kinda makes sense when they keep being arrested.

[–] Danarchy@lemmy.nz 24 points 15 hours ago

The apple don’t fall far from the trump

[–] brownsugga@lemmy.world 42 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

it's always the ones you most suspect

[–] 6stringringer@lemmy.zip 3 points 15 hours ago* (last edited 10 hours ago)

That’ll be the day. When that lot quit tryna’ do the wee ones. Nope, still no drag queens anywhere near the offense. In other news, water is wet & republicans are pedos. It’s almost Memorial Day Weekend in The USA. Are you ready for all the shopping deals & maybe firing up the grill to kick off the summer season? Well just remember one more thing you good people. May we not forget to ask the important question. How about those doggone Epstein Files? Aaaaaaand what side dish are you bringing to the potluck?

Ok, srsly for a moment only. May we may honor those that in good faith have served our country to honor and protect the values that once this revisionist history loving country stood for, a constant work in progress this 250 year old nation is. It ain’t perfect, has its ups and downs. Hopefully the ratio of people that give a F—k about s—t will increase. Ain’t holding my breath or anything. I may be naive, but at least I have some hope. When that’s gone, it’s over.

Rivera resigned immediately following his arrest.

Doesn't really sound like a Republican to me.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 6 points 15 hours ago

low level pedos do, but the ones in trumps circles dont.

[–] 6stringringer@lemmy.zip 3 points 15 hours ago

Gonna get him a cabinet position if he gets caught again.

[–] Etterra@discuss.online 3 points 17 hours ago

I looked up where he's at - Weld County, which is a large county in Colorado. So he ain't exactly a senator.

[–] Malyca@lemmy.zip 58 points 23 hours ago

And another Republican. Curious.

[–] D_C@sh.itjust.works 6 points 15 hours ago

"Disable your adblocker"
Nope.

So I'll only comment on the thumbnail picture and his political affiliation.
Picture:
Dear paedos, if you are going to rape children then, ffs, don't actually style yourself as a paedo. This guy could only really look more like a child rapist if he had the word CHILD FUCKER tattooed on his head. Or painted himself orange and then talked about fucking his own daughter.

Political affiliation:
Republican. The party of paedo protectors. Need I say more?
Nowadays any person who supports that party should automatically be put in the 'watch them around children' category for the rest of their lives.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 25 points 20 hours ago

LOL, related story in there: "GOP lawmaker said trans people “harm” children. Now he’s going to prison for child porn."

[–] binux@sh.itjust.works 68 points 1 day ago (1 children)
[–] jaschen306@sh.itjust.works 38 points 23 hours ago

Wow, so presidential.

[–] Wilco@lemmy.zip 16 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

Republicans would still vote for this guy.

[–] Lushed_Lungfish@lemmy.ca 11 points 19 hours ago

Actually, they would be more inclined to vote for him now that he's confirmed as a pedo.

"GOP" leader aka some random dickhead from Colorado.

[–] MagicShel@lemmy.zip 18 points 21 hours ago (2 children)

How is a 24 year old a former GOP leader? Like this dude has wrong written all over his face. How the fuck is he leadership material unless they've gerrymandered his bathroom into its own district?

[–] PalmTreeIsBestTree@lemmy.world 4 points 9 hours ago

Dude was born in the 00s but looks 40

[–] zalgotext@sh.itjust.works 2 points 8 hours ago

He was the party chairman for a single county, I doubt that's any sort of elected position. I think progressives should take a page out of his book though, and get more young people involved and into leadership positions in the Democratic party, in order to push things to the left.

[–] Washedupcynic@lemmy.ca 45 points 1 day ago (7 children)

Does Hunter Rivera look like he has fetal alcohol syndrome? Maybe it's a bad mug shot?

[–] kibblebits@quokk.au 44 points 1 day ago (3 children)

Hard to tell with the mustache. Eyes look like it. Flat mid-face might just be fat mid-face.

Although funny in this specific case, FAS doesn’t automatically make a person dumb or a child molester.

That’s usually exclusive to religious people and conservatives.

[–] zloubida@sh.itjust.works 3 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

That’s usually exclusive to religious people and conservatives.

Unfortunately, no.

I agree with you, FAS doesn't make anyone a child molester. His whole face just seemed off to me.

[–] kibblebits@quokk.au 10 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Well yes, his whole face does seem off. Perhaps he got dropped on his face as a baby.

[–] MagicShel@lemmy.zip 6 points 22 hours ago* (last edited 21 hours ago)

Must not be a billionaire if he was arrested.

[–] Dionysus@leminal.space 8 points 19 hours ago
[–] HazardousBanjo@lemmy.world 21 points 23 hours ago

He's just following the example made by his cult's god-emporer

[–] Soulifix@piefed.world 5 points 18 hours ago

He looks the part.

[–] OwOarchist@pawb.social 9 points 21 hours ago

The real shocking news here is that he was actually arrested for it. (Not holding my breath for a conviction.)

[–] Lemminary@lemmy.world 4 points 18 hours ago
