I'm glad we've finally accepted a reasonable timeline.

They have to do a prayer ritual every time they boot up their machines in hopes it works... So it may as well.

Makes me think it absolutely does exist, and they just forgot what the name of it was.

Butlerian Jihad has forbidden anything more sensible. It has to be enshittified garbage to make sure it never ascends to consciousness.

I just saw something about how modern technology has oscillated between open and closed systems, and currently AI is stuck in a closed system. The point was to break out of that into an open system again, as that is when breakthroughs and development occur. However, given how badly we've done with the "fake" AI and its dangers, I think we need to be cautious on finding the next phase. AGI in fiction is not valid science itself, but how it affects things are lessons and warnings of what-ifs that we do not want to go down.

And sure, there's plenty that say it will never happen. Great. What if they're wrong, and we do what we always do and run into the fire because it's bright and shiny?

It's funny to think how future-proofed this is when all of recorded human history only goes back around 6,000 years.

At the end of the great crusade and right before the Horus heresy.

My Lord! We can no longer install prevent_primarch_from_falling_to_chaos.exe, the Machine Spirit rejects it!

Too many zeroes. 28 even seems a bit much, given the state of things. Unless we look at Windows dominance like Rome, in which case the fall already happened, and it's just taking a while to see the aftermath and replacement.
