Well thats not very hardcore of them at all. If i saw a banana moshing or crowd surfing id be stoked

[–] arandomthought@sh.itjust.works 78 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Right? All the hardcore people I know are pretty chill and don't take themselves to seriusly. When you start to act like you're "sooo trve" you're doing something wrong.

I'm reminded of that "Yoshi's in the pit" clip from a few years ago of an Australian band's live performance where a dude dressed as Yoshi led a mosh pit and the singer was excited that was happening.

LOL Yoshi standing as a hoard revolves around them and then they join to run in circles... Sweet.

Band got dropped from their tour. They also have taken down their FB page if I remember.

Their behaviour was shitty and they deserve having lost their place on that tour.

Also they were supposed to tour Europe on the bill with Hatebreed until Jamey Jasta heard about this.

Wait, the band singled out some dude in the crowd of Canadians for wearing a costume as wanting attention? The same band on an elevated stage being very loud and under spotlights? Did they feel threatened that they weren't the complete center of attention anymore?

Thank you for the comments letting me know the band was dropped from their tour. Live music is amazing and dying at the same time. It doesn't need wankers like these acts killing it faster.

The massive irony of a punk band calling someone out for not fitting in is undergoing gravitational collapse.

[–] Nurse_Robot@lemmy.world 67 points 1 week ago (1 children)

What a shitty band, I'm glad they've been kicked out of the punk scene.

[–] orbituary@lemmy.dbzer0.com 26 points 1 week ago

Way to End It.

[–] kamenlady@lemmy.world 60 points 1 week ago (3 children)

While End It has not responded to the public callout, they have quietly gone missing from a few corners of the internet. Their Facebook page has allegedly been taken down, and they no longer appear on the posters and social media posts for Hatebreed and Life of Agony’s European Tour.

May they vanish

[–] buddascrayon@lemmy.world 10 points 1 week ago

Not only are the bullies but they're cowards as well.

Anybody who follows a "hardcore" band like that is the worst kind of little pissant fuckweed. Then again the little shit fucks at that show who beat up a guy in a banana costume in order to get a fucking set list are exactly the kind of people I would expect to follow this kind of bullshit.

Sounds like the band read the room wrong. It's kind of weird to call out someone for wanting attention while on stage too.

The fan later took to Instagram Stories to reveal that the costume was destroyed after the End It gig, per a report from The PRP. “People have been trying to dim my sparkle my entire life. It sucks, but I’m used to it,” he wrote. “I’ve surfed hundreds of people in this suit, all genders, all ages, safely. Especially, a lot of first timers that felt safe to approach me for their first surf.”

“[End It], two of your band members crossed the line…and I’m obligated to speak on it,” the fan continued, addressing the band directly. “F**k the police? While policing what people wear?”

He added, “The message last night; Conform or get called out, exactly the opposite of what hardcore is supposed to be. I was an unwilling participant, attacked and clothing removed at the direction of a band I paid to see.”

[–] CluckN@lemmy.world 59 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Then, the End It frontman offered the setlist to anyone willing to successfully “strip the banana.”

Offering a reward for beating up a fan is insane. Glad they were dropped from the tour.

What the fuck is wrong with them that they think this was acceptable? I'm glad they've been dropped from their upcoming tours.

I'm especially disappointed by the fans who fucking listened and attacked the guy, too.

Frankly, the banana guy has every right to sue their asses for encouraging violence against him and destroying his property.

[–] bedwyr@piefed.ca 22 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Reminds me of a much worse incident, a clip I saw of a Travis Scott concert, he crowdsurfed and his shoe came off iin this kid's hand and he accused him of stealing it and tried to start a fuck him up, fuck him up! chant.

The crowd ignored scott and got the fan to safety in that case.

[–] wasabi_noir@lemmy.zip 25 points 1 week ago (2 children)

I’ve never heard his music but Travis Scott sounds like a piece of shit

[–] CmdrShepard49@sh.itjust.works 20 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Isn't he the one that encouraged the fans outside the stadium to hop the fences and sneak in which lead to several people getting trampled to death?

[–] finalarbiter@lemmy.dbzer0.com 13 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Was that the same one where he refused to stop the show while paramedics tried to get to the trampled people? Not sure if that was him or not, it was maybe a few years ago

Edit: apparently it was, per the other commenter next to you

[–] ShaggySnacks@lemmy.myserv.one 16 points 1 week ago

Travis Scott played a set in which 8 people died. To be fair, Travis Scott wasn't the sole factor for the deaths. Management and the promoter share responsibility.

What kind of metal concert is it if there isn't a guy in a silly costume moshing?? One of my most treasured memories is being in a moshpit and getting decked by a guy in a chicken costume, absolutely folded, only to get dragged to my feet by several others before I even realized I was on the ground. Community, people, community!!

[–] ZMoney@lemmy.world 44 points 1 week ago

A person in a banana suit is basically a prerequisite of any ska show. We used to have inter-punk solidarity; these guys must have not gotten the memo.

[–] kevinsky@feddit.nl 41 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Harcore vocalist on a litteral stage calling somebody out for wanting to be the center of attention and suggesting they should conform is some olympian level bullshit.

The desire for nonconformity is evidently limited to the institutes this band disapproves of.

[–] sixtoe@lemmy.blahaj.zone 32 points 1 week ago (1 children)

They ain't hardcore. Fuckin poser losers.

[–] Soggy@lemmy.world 11 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Hardcore has always had a shitty culture. Stop throwing elbows in my pit.

Colossal scumbags. Unfortunately, there are a lot of secret authoritarians and conformists in our midst anywhere, it's unavoidable in any group that values a visually similar aesthetic as a way of signaling belonging, this absolutely goes for non-conformist and punk circles too whether we like it or not. Stay safe out there

“What we've learned by being excluded for who we are is to form a group that excludes others for not being exactly like us. This is social progress.”

I would like to point out that Banana people are always welcome at Primus concerts. Les Claypool knows how to have fun.

What's really crazy is that the picture in the thumbnail is clearly outside with a plain banana suit, but the article shows a video of a sparkly banana at an inside gig, indicating that this isn't an isolated incident of banana flavoured xenophobia.

Edit: ITT, OP loses their mind over a duplicate post.

Dickheads and hypocrites those guys, fuck em. I've never heard of them and I hope I don't hear them again

[–] OldChicoAle@lemmy.world 16 points 1 week ago (2 children)

I thought music was about nonconformity?

[–] SkunkWorkz@lemmy.world 11 points 1 week ago (1 children)

The loudest self proclaimed non-conformists are often the biggest hypocrites.
