Im 54 male and the idea of dating someone my son's age is akin to pedophilia to me.

[–] Pacattack57@lemmy.world 10 points 1 day ago

I’m 33 and the idea of dating a 20 year old is so insane. Like I have almost NOTHING in common with that age group.

Same. I'm in my 40s. I have no kids, but i have friends and siblings with adult children. Nieces and nephews (the word niblings is fantastic) The idea of dating someone in their 20s is utterly repulsive. I'm just glad I'm taken. Dating has changed so much in the last two decades... those social media fuck systems frighten me.

OP gets to buy their mom alcohol for a year.

[–] Corkyskog@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 day ago

Dads definitely already doing that. Might be able to get a side racket going buying cannabis if dad isn't cool with that though...

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 24 points 2 days ago (2 children)

A friend of mine married. At the wedding, her father (a widower) met the grooms mother (a widow). Some time later, they married each other. Some time later again, my friend and her husband divorced.

Can you imagine this kind of awkward family meetings?

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 21 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Okay, do you mind if i one up the awkward? I had some friends in high school start dating. Their parents were single. They met. About two, three years into the kids dating, the parents start dating. As soon as they graduated high school, the kids got married. A year later so did the parents.

Both couples are still together but like, "yeah i'm married to my sister. she wasn't my sister when we got married tho. damn mom and dad" is one hell of a story.

[–] Pacattack57@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

If you think about it, it makes sense. 2 similarly raised kids should theoretically have parents with a lot in common.

i mean even they thought it was pretty weird for the first two years. and by they, i mean all of them. but love is love.

[–] OldChicoAle@lemmy.world 12 points 2 days ago

That's why I just avoid family gatherings. Too many exes

[–] xkbx@startrek.website 113 points 2 days ago (3 children)

Go nuclear. DOES SHE HAVE A GRANDFATHER

[–] 0ops@piefed.zip 61 points 2 days ago (1 children)

What? "Pork them both?!"

But one of them is the father!

[–] turtlesareneat@piefed.ca 32 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Go through all the male lineage and then show up at the family reunion as everyone's guest.

Wait need to know if OP is a male, female, or intergenerational demon bent on enriching the family but keeping all who would love them at bay through a terrible curse

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 14 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Good catch. They might live in a candle too

[–] OS2Warp@lemmy.zip 11 points 2 days ago (1 children)
[–] finallymadeanaccount@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago (2 children)

For fuck sake, woman! Just stay with Jean Luc!

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I just watched the episode where Picard got doppelgangered and put the moves on Blazin' Bev. Dammit JLP pick a lane!

[–] rainwall@piefed.social 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Even if he picks a lane, some space probed flute harlot will just catch his eye anyway.

[–] OS2Warp@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

AND THE NEXT EPISODE HE GETS SEDUCED BY VASH WHAT THE FUCK JLP PICK A LANE

more like what the hell rick berman but i'll admit, both my wife and i were a little seduced by vash too

[–] LH0ezVT@sh.itjust.works 7 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Nah, they would have to order too much food, which would then be wasted. Everyone would think every male family member comes with their new girlfriend, and it's all the same girl? Think of all the wasted cake!

[–] thespcicifcocean@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago

If I was the girl in question, there would be no cake going to waste.

Do it OOP. Dead or alive.

[–] hOrni@lemmy.world 42 points 2 days ago (1 children)

From what I've seen, the internet has a firm stance on what to do with step moms.

[–] tias@discuss.tchncs.de 25 points 2 days ago

Especially if they get stuck under the living room table

[–] village604@adultswim.fan 79 points 2 days ago (1 children)

My cousin in law's husband basically did this, except she looks very similar to his daughter.

Incidentally, his daughter doesn't talk to him anymore.

[–] PattyMcB@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago

I wonder why...

[–] derAbsender@piefed.social 32 points 2 days ago (4 children)

Dad groomed an almost Child and the almost Child is to blame?

[–] tias@discuss.tchncs.de 36 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

My interpretation was that the intent is to punish the dad. When his (presumed) daughter dates someone his own age, he'll realize how fucked up it is.

[–] derAbsender@piefed.social 17 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Unfortunately they probably have Double Standards.

[–] fizzle@quokk.au 11 points 2 days ago

Obviously.

If he did not have double standards then he wouldn't care that his daughter is getting fucked in the bum hole by his father in-law.

[–] cosmos8188@leminal.space 13 points 2 days ago

Wild to assume that they where groomed without any mention of it on the post.

[–] MrKoyun@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (3 children)

Almost child? The age gap with someone who's presumably in their 50's is weird as hell (especially when their own child is OLDER THAN THEM!!) but a 20 year old isnt a child.

Not primarily, but if my parent cheated on another parent with someone around my age: we scrapping regardless of who's more to blame.

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

so dad's dead so it's not really an issue anymore, and as far as any of us know both he and mom were faithful to each other. but if my parents wanted to cheat that's none of my business. if they chose to cheat with someone my age, that's everybody's business.

[–] forkDestroyer@infosec.pub 3 points 1 day ago

Now that you mention it, if my parent cheated with someone their age, I could probably see myself doing something morally grey in response, too.

I have an ex whose dad cheated on her mom while her mom was pregnant. Can't imagine the emotional rollercoaster from that.

[–] ragas@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 day ago

Ah the Grandma paradox!

[–] nutbutter@discuss.tchncs.de 58 points 2 days ago (1 children)

So... She will be the mother (in-law) of her own father?

[–] blarghly@lemmy.world 16 points 2 days ago (1 children)
[–] ColeSloth@discuss.tchncs.de 3 points 2 days ago

This song is the only thing I remember from an absolutely terrible movie called "the Stupids" that came out back in the 90s.

[–] kaklerbitmap@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

Makes me think of this great book review that randomly popped into my feed:

Your Dad Will Do

[–] ZILtoid1991@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago

Is this the Musk family?

[–] Grandwolf319@sh.itjust.works 6 points 2 days ago

Is shit like this that fuels all that step mom content?

[–] criss_cross@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Why are the last numbers slumping in the upvotes and comments?

[–] abigscaryhobo@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

They probably took a screenshot when the page was dynamically updating the numbers. They do that to show that the post is actively getting votes/comments. Whether it's legit new updates or not I have no idea, but that's what you're seeing, the text is mid-animation
