Although the R in USSR did not stand for "Russia" but "Republics," as the USSR was a federation of several countries. Russia in particular was the RSFSR. It would probably be the ASFSR, or TISFSR (American Soviet Federative Socialist Republic or Turtle Island Soviet Federative Socialist Republic) as "America" is made up of many indigenous peoples. A federation as the basis of the socialist state would help with decolonization.

It used to be said that socialism could only work in the United States because the United States is the only place that can't be invaded by the United States, but then ICE happened.

To be fair, socialism already works very well considering the conditions of sanctions and siege, it just isn't a magic wonderland utopia like many westerners seem to think socialism becomes overnight.

The quote is referring to Iran and Chile, not Cuba or Vietnam.

Hilarious, short of a very bloody revolution that ain't happening. Those in charge won't allow it

I second that.

spoilerI would rather die in a revolution than be around when climate change will kill most humans on earth.

Hence the recent SCOTUS decision. Can’t wait to see the DNC use it to push out progressives.

Isn't that kind of the definition of a revolution?

That those in charge won't allow it?

[–] LordKitsuna@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

That's why I specified the type

[–] HasturInYellow@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

If that's what is necessary and demanded by the elites, then so be it. I'm game.

I don't think they will enjoy participating in the neo-technical revolution that our modern society is capable of. Drones are cheap and will find them, no matter where they are.

Off you pop then, no time like the present for a revolution.
