You freaking weirdos make me laugh. The health stuff is pretty well documented. Do what you want, but if you are too lazy too look up facts, here's a little from John Hopkins:
It is important to learn about the benefits and risks of circumcision. The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) has found that the health benefits of circumcision are greater than the risks. But the AAP also found that these benefits are not great enough to advise that all newborn babies be circumcised. Parents must decide what's best for their baby.

Dutch doctors have entirely different guidelines, emphasizing the possibility of complications of the procedure and no health benefits. Also citing the right to bodily integrity.

Interesting. I started to write up the different rules or recommendations from other countries but you know, it doesn't really matter. I've never seen anything really strong either way, even now. It just makes me laugh when people get so uptight about something that is such a non-issue. Thanks for the link.
Outside flaps are for wind and water resistance. Inside flaps are to prevent snagging and abrasion.
Adding to this: Cold air going through an unprotected pant zipper is understandably less feared than skin entanglement, but it is still extremely unpleasant.
I always freak out that I'm dangling any time a brisk wind finds its way through there.

I mean, I honestly didn't consider the flap was protecting me from catching the zipper on the clothing underneath.
But, that said, the flap is MUCH closer to the zipper than my shirt. So, it's like:
With Flap:
Chance of zIpper catching on shirt: 0%
Chance of zipper catching on flap: 30%
Without flap:
Chance of zIpper catching on shirt: 5% Chance of zipper catching on flap: 0%
Some experimentation may need to be conducted.

Ah, that makes sense.
But what if I hotglued a thin piece of plastic or cardboard to that flap so it would be impossible to catch? Probably not great for the laundry machine, but my coats rarely get washed--seem to be rain jackets in particular with this problem.
This might be a stupid suggestion, but I have had habits and techniques I just never questioned – if this is a regular problem and not just some few items (some zippers are just shitty, I get that), have you tried changing your technique? Like pulling the end of the zipper down until it's under a bit of tension with one hand and then pulling the actual zipper thingy away from the flap while closing the zipper with the other hand. That usually works for me.
It's a problem with one particular jacket I only wear on occassion. An improvement in zipper pulling skills is a fair suggestion. I'm also considering gluing some slightly stiffer material to the flap.
