You upgraded both the quality of the chocolate and the quality of the peanut butter.

[–] okwhateverdude@lemmy.world 10 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Let's not give them too many points here for the peanut flavored vegetable shortening spread.

So I did actually look at the ingredients for jif creamy, and there is no mention of palm oil, just the crisco equivalent (fully hydrogenated yada yada).

[–] The_Lurker@lemmy.world 6 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Chocolate, sure. But JIF? That's just ... Ugh.

[–] JoShmoe@ani.social 13 points 4 days ago (2 children)
[–] fartographer@lemmy.world 7 points 4 days ago

Ok, but only cuz I want that peanut butter for myself.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 4 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Jif was my fave, until I tried Aldi. Much cheaper, too.

Heh, you like Aldi’s nuts 😏

[–] Console_Modder@sh.itjust.works 36 points 5 days ago (2 children)

A thousand times better than the peanut flavoured powder that they put into Reese's cups. What the fuck even is that shit?

[–] over_clox@lemmy.world 24 points 5 days ago (3 children)

Redneck trick for ya, but seriously try this..

You want Reese's flavored 'peanut butter', well mix about 50/50 peanut butter and sugar.

Try it, that's more or less all it basically is, and tastes damn near identical. Also probably less cancer causing preservatives.

Chocolate is all up to you though.. 🤷‍♂️

[–] fartographer@lemmy.world 8 points 4 days ago

How redneck we getting? Mix lots of sugar with a tiny bit of water, then microwave it in 10 second bursts until it starts to turn a darker brown, then mix in a spoonful of peanut butter. Keep mixing and folding until you start to see strands, then stop. Top with Nutella and refrigerate.

Now you've made the Butterfingers you never knew you needed.

[–] farmgineer@nord.pub 6 points 4 days ago

I would use powdered sugar if that's the route you want to go. I was making buckeyes and tasted them before the chocolate dip and thought "hey, that's familiar..."

[–] SubArcticTundra@lemmy.ml 3 points 5 days ago

White choco coukd be interesting

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 2 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

that isnt really peanut butter, its sugar goop with som peanut butter. an instore brand is equally disgusting. i like the cups that are solid chocolate, or somehting like almond or sunflower.

[–] WanderWisley@lemmy.world 20 points 4 days ago (1 children)

NGL that would taste better than anything Reese’s makes now.

[–] P1k1e@lemmy.world 5 points 4 days ago

I came here to say this, and now I'm going to the store to buy it

[–] CodingCarpenter@lemmy.ml 14 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I can never unsee these as ladybugs

[–] db2@lemmy.world 16 points 5 days ago

Lindsey Graham, you're alive?

[–] PostProcess@lemmy.world 15 points 5 days ago

NGL that looks like fire my man...

[–] Emerald@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago
[–] Rubanski@discuss.tchncs.de 4 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Is it pronounced "jif" or "gif"?

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 4 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (1 children)

I do this all the time! It's one of my favorite snacks, except I use mini dark chocolate chips.

BTW, Aldi peanut butter is the best, and it's like half the price of the big gourmet brands.

[–] tamal3@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago (1 children)

But it's so liquidy it doesn't stay on the spoon

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 1 points 3 days ago

Ah! I know what you mean. I've bought it a 1000 times, and it was great, but a few jars ago, I got a jar that was far softer. Not exactly liquid, but it was thinner than usual. I didn't have any problems keeping it on the spoon, and I ate it anyway.

That's not normal, though, and subsequent jars have been fine.

[–] Jerb322@lemmy.world 6 points 5 days ago

Nice! I'm not the only one!

[–] mysticalone@lemmy.world 5 points 4 days ago

Cup? That's clearly a spoon! Reese's peanut butter spoon.

[–] ikidd@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 4 days ago

If you ever had real peanut butter you'd realize how absolute shit that stuff is.

[–] clifmo@programming.dev 2 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I do the same with 90% dark and natural PB (no palm oil). It is delicious.

[–] Emerald@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

My issue is that no stores near me have natural peanut butter that isn't organic so the stuff with less processing ends up costing more money.

[–] clifmo@programming.dev 1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

🧸🥜🧈. Come on, just look at him posing like that. Can't resist

[–] Emerald@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

Never seen that brand

[–] Grostleton@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 5 days ago (5 children)

Yes, but Skippy > Jif bruh. What are you, some kinda animal? SMH

[–] kahjtheundedicated@lemmy.world 6 points 5 days ago (2 children)

Both don’t stand a chance against Teddie. The only ingredients that should be in peanut butter are peanuts, and maybe salt

[–] Grostleton@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Nah dog sorry but that natural shit tastes like ass and is a bitch to stir every time. If I want to be healthier or get actual peanut flavor I'll eat some peanuts, PB is purely for pleasure.

[–] fartographer@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago (1 children)

You ever chew honey roasted peanuts until they taste like peanut butter in your mouth? Almost as good as a spoonful of whatever mass-produced peanut butter is waiting for you in your pantry. Almost...

[–] Grostleton@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 4 days ago

100%

I love honey drizzled over my nuts

[–] 0ops@piefed.zip 2 points 4 days ago

I'm not familiar with that specific brand but there are a few others that are, like you said, just peanuts and salt. I thought that I didn't really like peanut butter until I tried one of them - so much better!

[–] ZERONOVABLOSSOM@sh.itjust.works 4 points 5 days ago (2 children)
[–] fartographer@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

Yes, peanut butter

[–] Grostleton@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I love me some creamy nut butter

[–] MintyFresh@lemmy.world 5 points 5 days ago (2 children)

Crunchy nuts in this mouth please!

[–] ivanafterall@lemmy.world 3 points 4 days ago

I don't care if they're teeny tiny crushed nuts, smooth as a baby's bottom, or really roughing up my mouth. Just get em in there!

[–] gigastasio@sh.itjust.works 3 points 5 days ago

Are we still talking about about peanut butter?

[–] baggachipz@sh.itjust.works 3 points 5 days ago

Peter Pan master race

[–] The_Lurker@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Laura Scudders natural peanut butter. It's not an unholy emulsion of high fructose corn syrup and "natural" flavors. JIF, Skippy, and Peter Pan are the Wonder Bread and Velveeta of peanut butter.

[–] ikidd@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 4 days ago

Add Kraft to that list. I used to eat that stuff all the time as a kid, then I started to eat natural peanut butter and couldn't stomach that other garbage anymore. And if you buy the good stuff by the tub, it's cheaper, you just have to mix it.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 1 points 4 days ago

Aldi is better than both.

[–] Tiral@lemmy.world 3 points 4 days ago

Ugh, MOM it's not the same!
