General Discussion for politics in the UK.

Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.
Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.
Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.
If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)
Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.
Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

Betteridge's law of headlines is an adage that states: "Any headline that ends in a question mark can be answered by the word no." It is based on the assumption that if the publishers were confident that the answer was yes, they would have presented it as an assertion; by presenting it as a question, they are not accountable for whether it is correct or not.

The guy who wants to drill, baby, drill, and who also isn't stopping the Internet ID BS unlike what is reported? Yeah, sure he'll get it done.
Not any time soon. He’s still committed to balancing budgets, and the cost-of-living measures he has promised will be putting enough strain on that.
Can i just say that even if the idea that "a UBI would immediately be cancelled out by landlords or utilities providers," is not true in general, it would probably end up being the case in our country.
