Lion? If you're a human in 40k you're more likely to be a mangy street cat forced to work in a factory processing other cats into fancy feast. Fuck yeah I'll be the Taus little pet over that, I can work in at a space turnip farm or something, maybe they'll give me little human treats.

Indoor housecats have like double the lifespan of a lion and have way happier lives.

The only thing holding housecats back is their kidneys.

Does it really matter when the tyrranids will eat you no matter what you pick. There ain't no lions.

yeah living off corpse starch on the 58th basement floor of a hiveworld and having your planet destroyed by your own side is totally "lion" behavior

Though the T'au have their own methods of control(and aren't communist they have literal caste system ffs) the IoM is much more oppressive, a human auxiliary in the T'au empire has a much greater quality of life and intellectual freedom(they are free to still worship the emperor or other religions if they wish) than the average human in the imperium which is a worker in a Hive City eating corpse-starch, breathing pollutants living in a higher population density than Kowloon walled city, working 18+ hours a day and if they slip up in the slightest(I recently posted a quote where on some imperium worlds its illegal to read without a license) the get lobotomised into a servitor(T'au have mental condition 're-education' but it pales in comparison to literal lobotomising and having most of your brain replaced with circuitry)

Guy who said that to you only knows meme-lore

The caste system is fine given how good they are in every single other way. What matters is quality of life and treatment. They're doing fine compared to anyone else is this hellverse.

I'd criticise the caste system a lot more if it actually manifested in anything visibly horrible for anyone living under it but it doesn't as far as I've seen. Any critique of it is a criticism from the perspective of what human caste systems have been for people living in them rather than what the Tau one is actually producing.

Someone recently told me that the giant battle monks of 40k are enlightened atheists who believe in the god emperor as a nietzchean ubermensch and are trying to reform the imperium, and I think right at that point I realised that not even the writers understand the setting.

[–] FourteenEyes@hexbear.net 8 points 1 hour ago

No that's true, during the Great Crusade the Emperor was an epic Reddit atheist in an attempt to deprive the Chaos gods of believers and the Astartes still don't consider him a god even though he objectively and measurably is after ten thousand years of being sustained by worship and human sacrifice

Consistency is not something the Imperium is good at

[–] barrbaric@hexbear.net 4 points 1 hour ago

Some are some aren't. Black Templars for instance think the emperor is a god, but that's really backwards justification for why there's a subfaction that can be painted as crusaders.

The whole "reform the imperium" thing is definitely not something most believe in, it's basically the project of a single genetically-engineered superhuman who woke up after a ten thousand year nap and said "what the fuck is going on". Conveniently he's in charge of one of the largest groups of space marines but they didn't care until he woke up, and even now that he has a lot are just going "dude what the fuck are you talking about, we're being eaten by bugs, I don't care that the date is wrong due to a schism in the bureaucracy five thousand years ago".

Lion propaganda is insane. 20th century carnivores tried to universalize their ideology by imposing it on nature. First of all these motherfuckers are bald. 2ndly theyre lazy af, they get like 1 kill a month and sleep the rest to save on energy.

Umm, boss, I think it's an HR violation to post my performance review in public like that.
