How is this news. A car can be towed for several reasons other than mechanical problems.

It's not out yet and it's already been illegally parked

Yeah my first thought is if it's not for sale yet, then maybe this isn't a mechanical failure

[-] ook_the_librarian@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

As it's not released, it's probably illegal (contractually) to drive it on a public road. This is likely more akin to seeing tech writers with unreleased hardware.

[-] Aliendelarge@lemmy.world 8 points 1 year ago

Reading the article would indicate the truck was towed for being parked illegally.

I’d’ve thought that’d be self evident.

[-] Psiczar@aussie.zone 40 points 1 year ago

This car reminds me so much of the one designed by Homer Simpson. Even Cybertruck as a model name makes me cringe, and this is coming from someone who quite likes the existing Tesla models.

[-] Red_October@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago

It looks like someone drew the outline for it in crayon on a napkin, then demanded it be put into production.

[-] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 14 points 1 year ago

More like some one stole from the set of some junky 80’s sci-fi action flick. damnation alley or maybe tango and cash…

[-] AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

It's very reminiscent of the "future cars" in Back to the Future 2

[-] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Yeah, but, I actually like BTTF2, so I wasn’t gonna go there.

I hate that I like the look of this truck. I hate everything else about it, and want to be fully on board with the hate train having fun poking at this monstrosity, but I just can’t help but have some shit taste when it comes to the look of trucks…

[-] vanontom@lemmy.world 16 points 1 year ago

Maybe the concept. Or edited photos from far away. Take a realistic, close-up look, and prepare to be disappointed. And the steel seems about as "fun" to take care of as a boat.

[-] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

I mean, if there goal was to recreate some 90’s era video game graphics for nostolgia. Megarace, maybe.

[-] RushingSquirrel@lemm.ee 2 points 1 year ago

At least it's different. I can't tell one truck from another. GMC, Ford, Ram, Chevrolet, they look exactly the same.

And why do you want to join a hate train? Love trains are better ❤️

A stupid truck deserves a stupid headline, I guess?

[-] SheeEttin@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

It doesn't even deserve an article.

[-] snek@lemmy.world 10 points 1 year ago

Why is this car rendered in such bad quality?

[-] rifugee@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago

It just occurred to me that these things look sort of like the Zumwalt class stealth destroyers. Has anyone tested this thing against police radar guns? I mean it's still ugly as hell, but if it's harder for the cops to bust you for speeding...

[-] cynar@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

The front is flat. It will be a perfect mirror for the radar. If anything it will be easier to lock on to.

[-] stopthatgirl7@kbin.social 4 points 1 year ago

I really don't understand why Musk insisted on bringing what should have been just a concept vehicle to market.

[-] BruceTwarzen@kbin.social 2 points 1 year ago

People put down money for it years ago.

[-] stopthatgirl7@kbin.social 4 points 1 year ago

Which Tesla never should have done. It should have always been just a proof of concept at best.

[-] ryathal@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 year ago

Pretty sure Tesla needed the cash flow from pre-orders.

The Cybertruck reminds me of this but worse.
