"We understand that it may be a meme, but please refrain from this behavior for the safety of your health."

"Pleads."

It is occasionally amusing to go to Wikipedia's manual of style "words to watch" page:

This page in a nutshell: Be cautious with expressions that may introduce bias, lack precision, or include offensive terms. Use clear, direct language. Let facts alone do the talking.

Then look at some news headlines and see how many of them violate the rules on that page. Headlines are shit.

“ass”

That’s not how this works is it?

[-] GlitterInfection@lemmy.world 2 points 8 months ago
[-] Saber_is_dead@lemmy.world 3 points 8 months ago

And my ass!

[-] Telorand@reddthat.com 12 points 8 months ago

To be fair, that's about as "pleading" as you'll get from a legal team trying to cover Valve's ass.

[-] Questy@lemmy.world 5 points 8 months ago

Either way, Gaben's not my dad (unfortunately), so I'll do what I want! Sniiiiiffff

"What made you upgrade to the OLED?"

"Because I couldn't smell it anymore."

"What?"

[-] FluffyPotato@lemm.ee 36 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago)

Why smell good if not for smelling?

[-] DarkThoughts@kbin.social 33 points 8 months ago

Why the fuck is this even an article. Fucking hell.

In the age of clickfarming every week is a slow news week.

[-] deafboy@lemmy.world 22 points 8 months ago

I thought I knew a thing or two about cancerous online news sites, but IGN has exceeded all the expectations. Any attempt to scroll down activates a redirect to the localized czech version of the site. Not only is there no dark mode, they are trying to pass the authorsip of the translation to the real human, despite the article being clearly translated by a machine.

[-] rikudou@lemmings.world 2 points 8 months ago

Heh, same happened to me. In the end I cancelled loading while it wasn't fully loaded and that helped.

I guess the guy they credited with the translation used AI without them knowing.

[-] Diplomjodler@feddit.de 16 points 8 months ago

What else am I supposed to do with it? Play games? Ridiculous!

[-] sdcSpade@kbin.social 19 points 8 months ago

It's a Steam Deck, not a Game Deck!

[-] anteaters@feddit.de 7 points 8 months ago

Sniffing the fumes has become part of playing games on the deck.

[-] Walican132@lemmy.today 13 points 8 months ago

They just don’t want us to be happy.

[-] KISSmyOS@lemmy.world 11 points 8 months ago

Sniff, sniff...MMmmmmhh, smells like Arch!

[-] BobbyNevada@discuss.tchncs.de 8 points 8 months ago

Come on, baby! Don't hold out on me! I need those Steam deck exhaust fumes! I'll suck your dick!

"fumes" you mean the warm air?

[-] GBU_28@lemm.ee 10 points 8 months ago

Heated components could absolutely be producing fumes

[-] amelore@slrpnk.net 6 points 8 months ago

You wouldn't smell it if it was pure air. It's VOCs from the inks, plastics, solder flux, thermal paste, etc

[-] savvywolf@pawb.social 3 points 8 months ago

Consume the Fumes

[-] Subtlysubtle@sffa.community -1 points 8 months ago

I wonder if it's producing some ozone.

[-] rotopenguin@infosec.pub 7 points 8 months ago

I don't think there's anything there capable of making ozone. My guess is it's the heat-sink compound outgassing?

[-] Static_Rocket@lemmy.world 2 points 8 months ago

Well, I needed to remind myself, but it seems to be a mix of thermal pad oil and warm plastic...
