Well, as we know, Jerry's personality attracts teenagers

Tbh as a young dev without a lot of experience in today's market (added because of some of the comments), you need to have a professional LinkedIn persona, and that's true with many jobs. I can see this being useful for those who can't afford/don't have access to a way to get a good headshot.

That being said I'd be wary of what service you use to make a headshot, because a lot of them will probably use your data to train their AI, and/or steal the data from your cellphone if it's an app

Not really Steam's fault, their app is built in a chromium browser, which stopped supporting those OSes a few years ago. A perfect example of Google having too much control over the Internet. This is what happens when big companies are allowed to purchase their competitors.

Edit: people in this thread are either really forgetting how much trust google used to have with basically the entire Internet. They were seen as the "good guys" for a long time.

Or they're forgetting how unique and revolutionary chromium based desktop apps were when they first came out. It is a colossal pain in the ass to create a modern browser, if you have a web page in your desktop app like steam does, it quickly became a very difficult, time consuming, and virtually fruitless endeavor to develop a headless browser just to sit within your desktop app when you could just go with chromium.

People grossly underestimate how understanding people will be if you just explain your thought process in a calm and reasonable way. If she asks why he went along with it if he thought that's what she was actually doing:

"Look I'm not about the burning books thing but I thought you were cool and I figured I'd just go with the flow and see how things went, worst that could happen is I don't hang out with you again 🤷‍♂️. I'm glad it's a regular party though, let's go hang"

When I was younger I really didn't get societal norms super well, a girl asked me to rate her and I thought she was not ugly, not gorgeous, I gave her a 7 out of 10. She was offended lol. Didn't even realize she was flirting with me until years later lmao

I'm not being childish, you're being ridiculous. This is a library, this is a concept that already exists. You're thinking too profit oriented, not everything has to be for profit. This is so that people have access to these things now and for generations to come. Copyright laws compromising the internet archive will mean loss of data over the next few generations. There is already so much lost media from the internet era, and so little is being done about it, aside from the awesome efforts of the internet archive.

This isn't about profits this is about preserving data from our era.

There's more to this argument but it's already been said in this thread and I don't feel like typing it out, and I doubt you'd change your mind anyway.

I'm a dev, and on occasion I like to contribute to FOSS apps. That backfired on you didn't it?

I'm looking for a photo viewer thay allows you to view local storage and connect network storage

But I also want to be able to move and copy to and from network storage and local storage

And modify (ie delete, move files, etc) the files in network storage

I have fstop currently, but thay allows only read only access to network storage

Anyone have any recs?

I can set up most network file sharing standards so that's not really a limiting factor

Just about anything to do with comments that tries to fetch dara from the server will crash the app if comments aren't working

Lemmy.World is rapidly growing, maybe it’s time for some holsters to group together and distribute Thay load to other instances.

Maybe custom ui logic could be made for the sign up page that auto signs you up for an instance that is an official sister instance to the main lemmy.world. it could tell the user why ( to reduce load on a single server) and have a choice for the user to opt out.

Just a thought. I mean I made a new account because I was having trouble posting on my .world account, and I can't even login to jerboa still.

IMO I think in order to fully utilize part what makes the fediverse great, this should be supported natively. Thoughts? I’d love to hear from the admins and community mods.
