I watched 'Inland Empire' and 'Blue Velvet' (read the content warning labels first) and I have no idea what these movies are about or what they're trying to tell me. I had the same feeling with watching Chainsaw Man. d; Does anyone know what these movies are supposed to be about?

omg!! The only movie I watched of his was 'Inception' and I think it's a little overrated. He does a very good job of creating suspense, very tense movie, but aside from the hallway fight scene with the changing gravity, I didn't think the other fight scenes were good. (just like the Matrix, I think they definitely underused the whole 'you can do anything you want' aspect of the movie)

So I picked up this book called "The Hundered Year Marathon" by Michael Pillsbury at the library and it's genuinly so bad, I'm only 20 pages in but omg I don't think I can read anymore i'm cringing so much, i'm kind of tmepted to write a review of how bad it is but idk if that would be helpful

Fun fact: almost all AES countries are a part of the Non-Alligned Movement, except for China, who is an observer. in c/comradeship@lemmygrad.ml

So I'm watching a video about the debate between Lenin and Trotsky by Noj Rants (who doesn't appear to be a communist but the videos appear to be very well researched) and he talks about how the Workers' Opposition wanted Unions to be the leading economic organizers of the economy? Is there a way we can evaluate different government structure theories, because as far as I know, the economic organization of the USSR was done centrally by GOSPLAN.

How do trade deals work under capitalist countries? (lemmygrad.ml)
 

How does the government of a capitalist country say "we'll trade you 50,000 tons of steel for $1,000,000" or something, they don't have direct control over the steel mills, so how does the government ensure their side of the trade deal is done? I get that in socialist countries this isn't an issue because it's a command economy (I think)

Sorry if this a little silly of a question I haven't read much on the topic, but in a centrally planned economy, if everyone is a worker of a state owned business, how did the government have a budget surplus? Did they only rely on exports and tourism for state finances, because I can't think of other ways to generate state revenue surplus. Thank you for your answers.
