Sometimes we have those little epiphanies in the shower.. sometimes they come from other places. This is a home for those epiphanies.

Google Maps or Apple Maps, they work the same way. With your permission, they detect your location and speed and collect all the information and can tell people relatively accurate traffic conditions.

So why does Weather go online to ask the temperature when you’re outside and it could just measure the actual temperature, collate all the data, and tell people the temperature it actually is?

Aside from the fact that most phones can’t tell the temperature around them. I mean if they could.

I’m starting to believe the authorities are lying to us about the heat. My car can tell me the temperature, and it’s usually like 5°F hotter than my phone says.

People say "your ass" in place of "you", "my ass" in place of "me", "his ass" in place of "him", and "her ass" in place of "her"

She would have immediately known the mysterious magic diary was Voldemort's and wouldn't have kept interacting with it. She probably would have given it to her parents and they probably would have sent it to Dumbledore to destroy

Am I the only one who thinks this is just hilariously idiotic?

I'm not sure when or where this occurred, but at some point I just became less inclined to speak up on social media. I still do, of course, but now there's this little...cringe....inside of me whenever I do. The sarcasm, the gaslighting, the armchair 'experts' who seemingly exist just to punch holes in whatever opinion I have - this mean-spiritedness has made me far, far less likely to engage in most conversations online. And, I've watch this translate over into my offline life, as well. It seems like my world has become a gigantic minefield where every step could potentially blow up in my face from someone who somehow got offended by something I said, or someone who has made it their life's mission to correct every opinion I have. I just....stopped engaging, for the most part.

What's even worse is that I've found myself exhibiting the exact same sort of behavior from time to time. It's like social media is trying to train me to be argumentative and rude. Everyone tells me that it's 'just the way it is', but I can't help feeling like we can do better....or at least wishing that we could.

So I was literally in the shower, thinking about the difference between the "I will diminish and go into the west" scene from the movies, and the infinitely superior version from the Ralph Bakshi version.

I realized that you just need one simple fix to make the Rings of Power make sense: It just needs to stick with its current plot and strategy, skip forward in time episode by episode, and then replay the same scene, and Galadriel takes the ring. It's an alternate history. All the same character flaws that the writers have that fucked up the show are exactly what would lead her to be the same character, just with that one tiny flaw, the right type of hubris to take the ring and start to make everything better according to her perfect vision.

And then, events play out.

Just go on Facebook reels or YouTube shorts and "thirst" for a while, meaning stop scrolling whenever you see a scantily dressed girl or something similar and eventually the algorithm will serve you just straight up smut.

And once they're labelled as porn sites, they'd lobby hard to get the law repealed, rather than actually pay for adequate moderation.

The whole point of Jesus is that he's a blood sacrifice to redeem people's sins. He's an infinitely good being, so his sacrifice has infinite value. The idea is that anyone who accepts Jesus into their heart can sacrifice him atemporally and get their sins redeemed.

Netanyahu seems to be attempting a genocide of the Jewish people by forcing them all to worship Jesus, by committing crimes in their name of a magnitude that perhaps no earthly ritual can repent.

Can you count? Do you know all the math signs and how to do PEMDAS? Then you know all the things you wouldn't otherwise know without a guide or a calculator.

Need to instruct a student who asks you a stumper? You just need to know how to formulate and can use a guide or a calculator to help you if you had to.

Not good at math without one? You could chalk it up to everyone having days like that, as it's not like you could expect a school to remove you because of brainfart.

If you became any other kind of teacher (English, history, science, etc.) you would need to build up a starter pack of knowledge on the subject, such as different obscure forms of grammar or what happened during the war of 1812. With math, you aren't expected to be perfect since it's a circumstantial mental skill, and when you subtract that from the equation (no pun intended), you can have any skill level that allows you to pass the instructions on how to perform equations to the students.

You also don't have to know what everything means, since there are things that we take for granted only advanced math classes will teach you.
