Made this one somewhat last minute, but here goes- my reccomendations for this week are a yuri "mystery" VN that's near and dear to my heart (that goes into processing grief) though it's been a while since I last played it, and a cute and sloppy (not bad sloppy) manga about crossdressing (and if you ask me is honestly at least kinda genderfuckery).

I figured I'd also add BonnieBugsy's "Ranma Lazuli" fanfic series (available on Ao3) to make it a triple feature because why the hell not. The two fics I can recommend (not having completed the other large fic yet though I'm sure it would deserve equal recommendation) are pretty near and dear to me as well.

CONTENT WARNINGSSeaBed: processing grief Handsome Girl and Crossdressing Boy: some chapters, particularly the extras, can be particularly suggestive/R18+ Ranma Lazuli: for the two fanfics specifically I'm discussing, "Skies of Blue, Red Roses Too" covers dysphoria and abusive family circumstances, with the premise of the titular Ranma escaping these and finding a place where she can be and grow into herself. "I of the Storm," in contrast, deals with the abusive and unhealthy dynamics of that "place where nothing ever gets better" from the perspective of someone still living within it- Akane- who herself, also has to deal with her anger and the consequences of (being a victim, but also perpetrator of) abuse, apathy, and past mistakes, while moving past that environment herself.

Premise and things I liked about (SeaBed)Sachiko and Takako were childhood friends and lovers, but unknown circumstances tore them apart. Now they have to piece together the puzzle, as Sachiko keeps hallucinating about Takako, and Takako deals with memory issues of her own.

Personally, Seabed can come across as a bit of a slog (but in a good way- and in a way appropriate to the themes of grief, of mental processing and memory issues, etc). And it can be very heavy. I played it during a time when I was dealing with grief among other things myself and I loved it- I intend to play it again someday (ideally soon), but needless to say it won't be for everyone.

Premise and things I liked about (Handsome Girl and Crossdressing Boy)Admittedly, this is just comfy, queer (IMO), somewhat suggestive (YMMV, if it were just up to me I'd not even consider it NSFW but it's definitely toeing a line and considering cultural and even circumstantial differences of different online spaces- well yea) and sappy light-hearted romance. Iori is a crossdressing boy(? very eggy if you ask me), and Hazuki is a handsome girl. Needless to say gender is a fuck.

The extra chapters (generally noticeable as something like "chapter 23.5" instead of being an outright "chapter 23" for instance) can be even moreso questionably/maybe "NSFW/18+" (though if you ask me that's all "western puritanism and backwardness/regressiveness" which they then infected many other parts of the world with)

Premise and things I liked about (BonnieBugsy's 'Ranma Lazuli' fanfic series)The two "Ranma Lazuli" fics I can recommend (the others I either haven't read yet or are very short) are both what I would describe as "coming of age/graduation(?)" plots, wherein Ranma moves from her abusive, overwhelming, demanding upbringing to the welcoming and progressive Beach City from Steven Universe (no knowledge of either series is necessary IMO to enjoy these fics, that said) and is finally able to develop within such a healthier environment, and Akane comes to terms with and breaks free of the fallout and that unhealthy environment in her own way, in her own separate life.

Both fics, I feel, correlate with my own defining experiences on many levels- whether it be Ranma's growth and the liberating feeling of finding a positive, comfy space and escaping the small, shitty, abusive world she was raised in prior, or in Akane's own growth and rejection of that same small world, as well as the permanence of one's actions having come from and having been a part of what made that world so small and unhealthy to begin with, and growing past that and coming to terms with it.

Hair is being a problem for me. Facial hair, I don't like shaving (painful) (bloody). Not shaving it also sucks (prickly little growths) (spiky). Trimming isn't really sufficient.

Also, chest hair is being an issue. I don't want to try to shave it (that would be another level of hell). Trimming also leaves behind spiky hair that stings.

Hair growth on my head is going nicely. I like it. Then I think about how I will need to go to my parents during the summer and I don't want them to know about my situation so I am going to have to keep my hair relatively short thonk-cri.

I've also started thinking that I should lower the dose of my hormones to slow down feminization. At this rate, I won't be able to hide my chest growths even with a breast binder. My parents want me to be over for basically the entire summer and I don't have a good excuse to not go. How am I to live with them in the same house while still hiding my feminization? doggirl-gloom.

Hi! I've been extremely tired this week and nearly forgot that I was hosting one so I'm writing this last minute! I couldn't think of anything so I'm going to write about one of my hamsters who is not Biggs; Meredith

Meredith was another hamster of mine from a few years ago during the early days of COVID, and she was the absolute sweetest little creature I had ever met. Very friendly, very gentle. She loved exploring anywhere I put her into and never bit me ~~okay she did once ever~~. She was an absolute sweetheart and bundle of love and was with me during some of the rougher parts of my life

She unfortunately died very suddenly out of the blue one day at a terribly young age showing no symptoms of anything wrong with her prior, which breaks my heart to this very day

I never had her as long as any other hamster of mine but I don't think I had any other hamster touch my heart in quite the same way. I miss you, girl

Video description:

This video is for transgender, non-binary, and gender nonconforming people, and anyone else who has been pushed to the margins.

You face unspeakable adversity. So many voices shame you and want you to be diminished to a more palatable effigy of yourself, and many don't care if that means the material or metaphysical disillusionment of who you truly are. The voices come from your government, from strangers on the internet, from your coworkers, from your family.

One of the voices probably comes from inside you.

Every voice in this video is from someone rooting for you. I'm rooting for you.

When you're too broken to work, too broken to play, too broken to even get out of bed, know this:

Every breath you take is a radical refusal to acquiesce to the voices that want you to be diminished. Your cellular metabolism follows the same basic chemical equation as any other fire. Focus on taking your next breath. Feed the flame oxygen and Don't. Be. Extinguished.

Heya Everyone, new Mega time and for it, I'm gonna advertise a TTRPG system called Thirsty Sword Lesbians.

A sword duel can end in kissing, a witch can gain her power by helping others find love, and an entire campaign can be built around wandering matchmakers flying from system to system.

Thirsty Sword Lesbians is a roleplaying game for telling queer stories with friends. If you love angsty disaster lesbians with swords, you have come to the right place.

In this book, you’ll find:

Flirting, sword-fighting, and zingers in a system designed for both narrative drama and player safety.

An innovative take on the Powered by the Apocalypse family of games.

Nine character types, each focusing on a particular emotional conflict: Beast, Chosen, Devoted, Infamous, Nature Witch, Scoundrel, Seeker, Spooky Witch, and Trickster.

Guidance and support for running the game, including how to make appealing adversaries, set the tone, pace the game, and structure play.

Tools to create your own settings and stories, alongside a dozen pre-written options including the cyberpunk Neon City 2099, steamfunk poets battling oppression as Les Violettes Dangereuses, laser swords and intrigue in the Starcross Galaxy, and more.

World building worksheet for custom scenarios and starting scenario seeds to play with: Best Day of Their Lives, The Constellation Festival, Gal Paladins, and Sword Lesbians of the Three Houses Variant rules to highlight different identities, emotional connections, and setting elements.

Strategies to adapt any setting where swords cross and hearts race for Thirsty Sword Lesbians.

Here's a link to their website, I did copy everything over directly from it because I put off writing the Mega this week. I was drawing a blank on what I wanted to talk about. catgirl-huh

snake postI'd like to talk about one of my favorite ball python morphs, the banana gene. It is an incomplete dominant trait first produced by NERD in 2003. Incomplete dominant means an animal only needs one copy of the gene for it to express itself, however a "super" (homozygous) form exists when both parents pass the gene on to their offspring.

An adult and baby banana ball python. As you can see, they are bright yellow with black spots as adults, looking very much like a banana. They have white bellies. This is a different gene from albinism, and they have normal eyes. Here's a wild type for comparison:

One thing that is very unique to the banana gene is it is sex linked (the only ball python morph that does this, not sure about other animals). Female bananas will produce equal split of male and female, banana and wild type. However in males, it is linked to how the sire inherited the gene. If he inherited it from his father's side, he is a "male maker" and almost all of the bananas he produces will be male. The sex split and morph split are the same (50/50), but almost all the males will have the gene and almost all the females will be wild type. Same if he inherited the gene from his mother, just reversed (this is a "female maker"). A common myth/misunderstanding is that this holds true all the time, it does not. A male maker can still produce female banana ball pythons, and male wild types. Same for female makers, in the other direction. Roughly 3% of snakes produced from male bananas will be one of these instead of the "expected" outcome.

These are both super bananas if you wanted to see what they look like ^^

If anyone can afford to help me out at all, I'd be so grateful. I REALLY need some money for groceries... I'm completely broke, pregnant, and very hungry :'( Also, as of recently I've been living at a Motel 6, but if I can't come up with my room fee by the morning, I'll be thrown out. (I have to pay the front desk $100 tomorrow, by 11AM) Anything helps...Thank you so much for your kindness and support!

i hope there's no rule against this sort of thing - the CPB's vile reactionary line has been on the frontpage, and the comments had a bunch of people bemoaning the lack of a decent left org in the UK, so i thought it'd be worth mentioning that there is a worthwhile org out there (doubtless there are others too, but IMHO rs21 seem the best of the bunch IMHO!)

"rs21" stands for Revolutionary Socialism in the 21st Century. they're not a party per se, but several of their members have contributed to the "Party Question" series of articles published by Prometheus Mag in recent months, which is worth looking at if you don't follow Prometheus already.

Strides Pharma has recalled over 400,000 cartons of its Testosterone Gel 1% across the U.S. and Canada due to trace amounts of benzene, a known carcinogen. Although no injuries have been reported, transgender patients who use the gel are urged to review lot numbers and speak with providers about safe alternatives. This recall affects both 2.5-gram and 5-gram unit-dose packets distributed since 2023.
