Because they're beholden to the whims of a doddering egomaniac.
They didn't coast here, they've been paddling furiously to get right where they are, and that spot is 'me or fascists'.
They are furthermore dropping anchor right here, happy to be forever the only party a ~~parrot~~ pardon patriot can vote for (as evidenced by their past and continued ratfucking fascists into elections).
Whether or not one argues these plans are traitorous, (i feel they are) or were even effective, one cannot argue that this isn't a position they actively tried to be in.
