Well the whole market is driven much more by “family” spending than NEET chuds.

our games are increasingly less popular nowadays. The cause? Declining birth rates and the destruction of traditional family values.

According to a survey done by the Switch Weekly newsletter, which would probably skew more hardcore and less family than average although he seems to have pretty good reach with 3,700 responses.

40% were using a family plan for the Nintendo subscription (of the 77% total who paid for online at all). And 45% had more than one Switch in their household, so about 1/2 of the market being family driven would sound about right to me. The median amount spent on games was $35 a month while average was 52USD. 32 sounds closer to what a family might spend (a new game every 2-3 months).

Edit: Nintendo has a report from 2021. https://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/pdf/2021/211105e.pdf

So $35 x 12 comes out to $420 a year (har dee har har). At Switch 1 full $60 prices, that’s seven games a year. Assuming total spending stays flat, that’s 5-6 games a year at the new Switch 2 prices.
