GPT5 may be the breaking point.

A mind boggling amount of resource expensed by the, as investors could see, the best of the best. To result in what is at best a mild incremental improvement after a two year wait...

Throwing more datacenters at the market won't produce returns. There is potential in improved integrations and maybe research seeking a novel approach, but not capacity. Training switches from aiming for expanded capability to refreshing currency.
