Someone said DnD is a perfect example of this, except:

DnD 3e was better than 1e and 2e, and 4e came about because video game popularity was something WotC were trying to get in on, and 5e came about because Pathfinder 1e stole (took back?) like, half their fanbase.

The game getting worse over time (5e is terrible, FIGHT ME!) is literally because of profit seeking.

Kinda weird how the green dude stopped smiling when the chick showed up but does nothing to help the two nerds.

This also completely falls apart when you're talking about furries, the only good fandom.

Even when i was a dumbass into cringe culture I was always fry of people who hated on furries, some of the nicest people around who aren't hurting anyone. One of them even taught me leatherworking

I've heard a lot of theories about why furries have gotten so much shit, but one I don't see talked about much is that it stems from nerd insecurity. Joe Sixpack probably doesn't know or care what a furry is, or at most says "looks stupid" and moves on with his live. The people who know enough about furries to obsessively hate on them are generally geeky and online enough to have likely been the target of ridicule growing up themselves, so furries give them someone they can point to and say "At least I'm not those losers!"

This would also explain why so many furry haters go on to become furries themselves: they outgrow their insecurities. Those who don't... well, look how Lowtax turned out. Built the biggest nexus of furry hate on Web 1.0 and ended up being

CW: abuse/self-harma wife beater and deadbeat divorced dad who blew his own brains out.

Meanwhile, many of those he targeted for harassment live fulfilling lives to this day.

Also they are jealous. Furries have infinitely more self confidence to own their hobby, dress up in public and shit, and it drives the reactionary side of geek/nerd culture out of their mind knowing they are not as cool.

Yeah I don't think it's coincidence that the biggest hubs of current-day furry hate are 4chan and Kiwifarms, home to some of the most miserable, insecure, self-loathing sadsacks I've ever seen.

I’ve been harping on this in the whole thread, but 4chan types are just “failed jocks”. Literally just Eric Cartman IRL. They see themselves as too “cool” to be an actual nerd but still shoehorn themselves into geek culture, and they’re too lazy and undisciplined to learn a sport and be a jock.

If you have gone to a con or a ren faire just once, you will know that women absolutely belong. Hell, a woman invented the sci-fi genre and a woman invented fandom as a concept.

a woman invented fandom as a concept.

well you can't win 'em all.

furries, the only good fandom.

From what I've been told the furry fandom has its own problems.

Also there's a surprising about of military-industrial-complex ghouls among furries, at least in the DC area. That guy dressed up as a fox maybe working for Raytheon.
