the atom bomb explosion looked like shit too because he wanted to do practical effects, like it just looks like a big pile of gasoline going off
Should have just used archive footage honestly
He does seem like the kind of douche to drop a nuclear warhead on a city for the sake of ‘art’
The frustrating thing is they did this really clever shot at the beginning by dropping a backlit sphere into some sand and it looked exactly like a slow motion of the fireball expanding, but then for the main thing they had that travesty. It was such an anticlimax.
