I remember when someone would get too stoned and freak out saying it was laced. The common wisdom at the time was that it would be a waste of money to lace weed because all the other drugs are more expensive.

It's like the Halloween candy stuff. People would be scared someone is going to put drugs in the halloween candy. Like why would someone do that? Drugs are expensive. Why would you give them out for free?
