The context is that Hasan's view is that "as long as he is Anti-israel, then it's worth people to vote for, the priority is ending support for the genocide and the Israeli state on a political level, regardless of the personal background of the politician". To my knowledge the rest of his commentary on Platner was analysis rather than outright support from a "harm reduction" perspective.
The "I dont care" is not exactly a literal "I dont care about the bad things he did, and im perfectly fine with him as a candidate" it is more "I have discussed this at length on stream in my political commentary, and some of you keep coming at me from my left about it but 'I dont care [about the commentary from my left flank on this topic] anymore because I've had this discussion every day'". He is addressing the chatter more than the topic in those clips, by my reading.
It doesn't radically change the clip(s), but I don't think it is an accurate representation of his position. I am not saying that I personally agree with his position either. Totally fine if you want to flame him with context. I also want to point out that this clip is not evidence of him requesting donations or campaigning with him as implied by the QT, but that isn't directly relevant to our discussion.
It is very easy to clip hasan like this from the right or the left, so I would not weight it too heavily when you see it unless it is an unedited 30+ seconds.
Oh so if Hasan was repeatedly warned and was annoyed by those who were correct, that actually makes it better? Maybe Hasan needs to stop downplaying and ignoring and mocking the concerns from his left flank, and instead just listen to them and change his position. Then he would no longer have to keep addressing it all the time.
It's like the Israel-Cool thing, it kept coming up for years until it was resolved because left-flank criticism kept coming and springing up. Then once they fixed the issue, it went away and never came up again. Hasan could have made Platner go away and never come up again by just condeming Democratic Party electoralism and wipe his hands of it entirely, but he cannot do that because he is fundamentally a clinger-on to the Democrats and Bernie-Stay-Behind-Apparatus which is a multi-million dollar political machine.
Nah, it seems you've misunderstood what I'm trying to communicate here.
I'm just pointing out the context actually makes it worse. That this didn't just come out of nowhere to surprise Hasan who wasn't really paying attention to it. It was a hill he already planted his flag on and wanted to die on. He had already heard the correct positions, and rejected them as ultra.
I largely agree with what you stated here.
lmfao
TBF there have been other liberal Zionism struggle sessions but, to my knowledge, no others over
Most of the people who made being for/against that emoji their entire personality ended up getting banned during that struggle session, I think most of us don't really care too much about it now.
I'm just glad I was wrong about it potentially inviting anti-Semites in, that doesn't seem to have happened. Though that could also be because being anti-Israel is much more acceptable now, so they don't need to infiltrate a niche leftist forum to spread their bullshit.
