The LibreWolf Browser has made it clear that they will never support generative AI (lemmy.cafe)

Recently, Mozilla's new CEO announced that Firefox will be "a modern AI browser". In contrast, the LibreWolf developers have stated that they will not add any AI feature.
LibreWolf became one of the best browsers for people who reject generative AI.

Here is the statement posted on Mastodon:

As there seems to have been recent confusion about this, just a quick “official” toot to then pin: we haven’t and won’t support “generative AI” related stuff in LibreWolf. If you see some features like that (like Perplexity search recently, or the link preview feature now) it is solely because it “slipped through”. As soon as we become aware of something like this / it gets reported to us, we will remove/disable it ASAP.

I love just how aggressive the initial settings are! Sure I've toned some of it down, but I largely hope that more applications start you out in a "least privilege" style configuration like LibreWolf does. So refreshing, especially in a world where shit like AI is becoming something you need to opt-out of rather than opt-in!
