It's all gonna go towards some government surveillance program. That's why it doesn't matter how commercially viable it is cuz the government has some juicy contracts to hand out. To clarify, the government ALREADY HAS all the data it could want, but it's near impossible for a human to sift through it. Thank you for listening to my conspiracy theory.
At a minimum. Like all technology under capitalism, it will be developed and used primarily for violent control. This includes surveillance but much more: weapons. prisons, genocide, ethnic cleansing, etc., as we've already seen. That's why there's all this nationalist/militarist rhetoric about "beating china". Empire feeds off empire.
