Breadtube if it didn't suck.

Post videos you genuinely enjoy and want to share, duh. Celebrate the diversity of interests shared by chapochatters by posting a deep dive into Venetian kelp farming, I dunno. Also media criticism, bite-sized versions of left-wing theory, all the stuff you expected. But I am curious about that kelp farming thing now that you mentioned it.

Low effort / spam videos might be removed, especially weeb content.

There is a cytube that you can paste videos into and watch with whoever happens to be around. It's open submission unless there's something important to commandeer it with at the time.

A weekly watch party happens every Saturday (Sunday down under), with video nominations Saturday-Monday, voting Monday-Thursday. See the pin for whatever stage it's currently in.

I'm not enough of a nerd to be upset about it but I am enough of a pedantic argumentative shithead to point out that the exact lines of reasoning behind no body shaming should hold the same for stuff like this. I haven't shat myself YET but I've come close enough enough times that it's obviously only a matter of time. The poop reaper comes for us all, if you think yourself different you'll simply be shitting yourself in hubristic denial

that being said I think people have a natural propensity to make fun of others, especially people who are (lol) shitty, and honestly there's probably always going to be SOMEONE who could be included unintentionally as a target on any form of ridicule no matter whether it's targeting their body or whatever

The point isn't that people who shit themselves are morally inferior, it's that people who are physically falling apart (whether due to temporary illness or old age) generally aren't suited to public office and so the Republicans need to pretend that Trump is this god of a man and healthy as a horse (and Trump himself does this too), and here we see that ridiculous pretense being unmasked.

It's similar to mocking Biden, who responded to questions about his age with talking about pushup competitions and other absurd posturing.

Personally I’m suspicious of someone who hasn’t shit them self on national TV

[–] 666PeaceKeepaGirl@hexbear.net 4 points 19 hours ago

How can you trust someone to lead us through the American Century of Humiliation if they don't even have the humiliation experience that can only come from shitting yourself in public?

[–] Infamousblt@hexbear.net 35 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

The difference is that nobody is holding you up as the pinnacle of health, of masculinity, of whiteness, of power. Nobody is making fun of some random dude who shat his pants, we're making fun of all the people who think Trump is some powerful healthy beast of a man. And maybe he is. And maybe men like that should shit their pants. Let the people who love him follow his example here too and walk around with poopy butthole pants

[–] LeeeroooyJeeenkiiins@hexbear.net 9 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Yeah but doing those things to someone doesn't make body shaming them not body shaming. Like if that ICE agent with the Yakub forehead were being held up as an Andrew Tate role model for chuds it would still be body shaming to make fun of his head

I'm not trying to defend Trump here, I just feel like the logical framework for being against body shaming applies here as well and it's interesting to notice the hypocrisy I guess

[–] Infamousblt@hexbear.net 17 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (2 children)

I think what you aren't understanding is that we're calling out their hypocrisy. Trump isn't a paragon of human masculinity unless that also means shitting your pants.

[–] ElChapoDeChapo@hexbear.net 15 points 1 day ago

I mean I agree with you but I can also see how this is exactly the logic libs use to justify homophobic jokes about Trump and Putin being gay for each other

[–] LeeeroooyJeeenkiiins@hexbear.net 10 points 1 day ago (1 children)

No I mean i get it but like you just said we're "not making fun of random people," but that's the point with anti body shaming stuff, that random people are unintentional collateral damage from what is, to you, targeted humiliation

I'm in favor of making fun of trump shitting himself btw i feel like I made that clear but maybe not

[–] FunkyStuff@hexbear.net 18 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (2 children)

I guess the difference is that it's not a big deal for you and me to crap our pants, it's a different thing entirely for the president of the second most powerful country in the planet to do it in a press conference. Same with Biden's dementia: you aren't being ableist when you point out how ridiculous it is that someone with these ailments is president, it'd honestly be more ableist to pretend this is ok.

That asymmetry doesn't really exist for body shaming. Trump being fat doesn't mean anything more than you and me being fat. Him being gay with Putin doesn't mean anything (well I guess it would be pretty wild if he actually was gay with Putin, like for real, but you get the point; libs aren't trying to actually say anything about the relationship of the two leaders they're trying to get in on policing masculinity like chuds do)

[–] Pentacat@hexbear.net 3 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

I wanted to be gay with Putin and all I got were these lousy Soros Bucks.

[–] LeeeroooyJeeenkiiins@hexbear.net 2 points 21 hours ago* (last edited 21 hours ago)

Would you rather be gay with Putin or take $500,000? IMO being gay with Putin, even if only for a fling, could bring more than 500k worth in connections, tbh. And there's always a chance he wouldn't just hit it and quit it

[–] Johnny_Arson@hexbear.net 3 points 22 hours ago

Yeah this is exactly what I feel about it too. I've definitely had a few embarassing sharts but I wasn't on live TV with nuclear launch codes.

[–] mrfugu@hexbear.net 18 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

nobody ever has a 0% chance to shit their pants

[–] LeeeroooyJeeenkiiins@hexbear.net 5 points 21 hours ago

but lots of people think they do!

[–] happybadger@hexbear.net 34 points 1 day ago

I think it's where being a public figure comes into play. good-morning and biden-alert are both showing the senility that will probably impact most if not all of us. But instead of retiring they're pretending to be perfectly fine so that they can destroy society and defy age. Their senility is a weapon against our grandparents being able to live out their senility with dignity. With Trump's main argument against Sleepy Joe Biden being that he was obviously too old for the job, these moments that highlight how old he is undermine the basic idea of his presidency.

[–] Jabril@hexbear.net 13 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

A natural poopensity you say?

[–] Johnny_Arson@hexbear.net 10 points 22 hours ago* (last edited 22 hours ago) (1 children)

I haven't shat myself YET

I have. Never trust a fart, especially after like 4 cups of coffee. I am giving you all the "laugh at him for sharting pass".

[–] corgiwithalaptop@hexbear.net 6 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

I did it in my bedsheets like 12 years ago. Partner was tickling me, I kept warning them but they didn't stop.

So really it was their fault.

[–] Johnny_Arson@hexbear.net 5 points 21 hours ago

lmao oof that sucks.

[–] hollowmines@hexbear.net 15 points 1 day ago

I get the hesitancy, but there's a lot that's funny about the video beyond merely the dimension of "making fun" of the sharter - the total indifference to whatever was supposed to be being discussed, the roomful of "important" people forced to stand stone-faced in the powerful waft of thoroughly sharted air, the rush of staffers shepherding the press away from the blast zone in a foolish attempt to save face that instead makes it 10 times more obvious what has occurred...

you can't body shame someone who isn't a human. also are we going to not body shame a piece of shit who body shames? he doesn't deserve dignity.

[–] FunkyStuff@hexbear.net 2 points 18 hours ago

If you called Trump a fat sack of garbage the comment would be removed for fat shaming. The logic isn't really any different to why your comment would also be removed if you started misgendering him, calling him racial slurs, or calling him gay as an insult.

[–] LeeeroooyJeeenkiiins@hexbear.net 2 points 19 hours ago

also are we going to not body shame a piece of shit who body shames? he doesn't deserve dignity.

I agree! fuck him!

I'm just being a debate pervert asshole, um akshuallying this website because I really do think the logic applied for why it's wrong to shame an ICE agent for having a weird-ass Yakub shaped forehead applies just the same to someone shitting their pants and there's a bit of a hypocrisy here

if we want to have an express caveat that body shaming/whatever ridicule is okay as long as it's towards a piece of shit who deserves it then like cool I agree there too, but like the whole point for every "this is body shaming and we shouldn't do it" argument is that it unintentionally harms (or COULD HARM, personally I think people just make up imaginary people in their head who are upset in 99% of instances) people who are not the target who match whatever trait being ridiculed

[–] LeeeroooyJeeenkiiins@hexbear.net 1 points 19 hours ago

smh my head hexbear doodoo shaming and now they forget you can be a non human person with all the rights and sympathies that should afford

[–] Le_Wokisme@hexbear.net 4 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

counterpoint: crap is funny, and crap where it's not supposed to be is extra funny

[–] LeeeroooyJeeenkiiins@hexbear.net 2 points 21 hours ago

I never argued it wasn't! It's just like, personally i think making fun of that puerto Rican ICE agent with the yakub head was also funny, but that got removed for body shaming. Yet all the arguments to defend laughing at someone shitting themselves could be used to defend laughing at that dude's head, except for the "being a public figure" aspect. All the hypocrisy aspect and whatnot was there, definitely a guy deserved ridicule, etc

[–] doleo@lemmy.one 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

This is a totally fair point, and I'd normally be 100% with you on it. The only point I'd offer here, is that this is a man, and a cabal, that are cruel. Marketed as cruel, openly cruel and deliberately cruel. If during his campaign, he'd said, "yeah, I'm elderly. I might have problems that you younger ones are yet to face". Instead of the constant strongman posturing, I might have more sympathy.

As it is, it's like the bully being exposed for how pathetic they really are. It's maybe not nice to laugh at the pathetic bully, but maybe you can see why people would do it.

No you see the logic with not body shaming people is that you're ridiculing them for something outside of their control and also unintentionally making fun of random people who also have whatever trait you're making fun of

you can see why people would do it

I mean yeah I said I think people have a natural propensity to make fun of others, at least people that they dislike. I'm not against making fun of trump for shitting himself
