Calling it now:
Trump is going to sign an EO to bring back the draft, and congress is just gonna let it happen.
And it this is anything like Russia and Ukraine, and it is (the US being Russia), hell expand the age of the draft as the war gets worse and worse.
My wet dream: America gets dragged down into trench warfare like Russia, who thought it was the second greatest military in the world.
It could happen, but I doubt it. The last time the US had a legitimate anti-war movement, it was in large part due to the draft.
Do you think they'd care at all this time? They don't even bother giving us a fake justification nowadays
Yes.
Republicans in particular don't give a shit about something until it affects them or their family/friends/ingroup.
So far the horrors of the last year haven't actually directly affected that many Americans. Or it's abstract enough that it's easy for people (mostly morons, which we have a crazy number of) not to connect the dots.
When people start getting drafted in significant numbers, that'd actually have impact.
A rapid economic downturn would do a whole lot more.
One problem. Russians were all thin due to being too poor to afford food.
Americans can't go to war because they're too busy using mobility scooters and starring in "my 600 lbs life" at age 22.
