This headline could be replaced with literally anything they've ever said after "Republicans want you to think". The entire platform is based on lies by necessity.

[-] nilloc@discuss.tchncs.de 18 points 1 month ago

Also the majority of actual voter fraud has been by republicans.

And then there was that attempted coup.

[-] Boddhisatva@lemmy.world 12 points 1 month ago

You could stop at "Republicans want you to think" with nothing after it at all and it's still a lie. They don't want people to think at all. The 2012 Texas GOP platform literally spelled out that they oppose the teaching of critical thinking skills in their platform.

We oppose the teaching of Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) (values clarification), critical thinking skills and similar programs that are simply a relabeling of Outcome-Based Education (OBE) (mastery learning) which focus on behavior modification and have the purpose of challenging the student’s fixed beliefs and undermining parental authority.

[-] Zink@programming.dev 5 points 1 month ago

Ah yes, education. The place where you learn nothing new and only reinforce your “fixed beliefs.” I can’t believe they actually wrote that.

…lol wtf am I saying, it is obviously 100% on brand.

18 million illegal immigrants were let in during Biden

Illegals are voting for Biden

The election was stolen because of illegal immigrants

Cue: Jan 6th 2

But there will be insurrection regardless of any reason, !remindme 4 months

[-] JasonDJ@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 month ago

"Republicans want you to think" seems pretty counterintuitive, since my experience has been "Republicans don't want you to think"

[-] Delusional@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

"republicans want you to think the lies they spew daily are true." Turns it into a factual statement.

[-] Rakonat@lemmy.world 43 points 1 month ago

Friendly reminder that nearly every recorded and investigated case of voter fraud in the US for the last 20+ years has been committed by Republicans.

[-] Schadrach 2 points 1 month ago

...and I'm sure the Republicans would tell you it's because the liberal media and deep state work together to conceal cases of Democrat cheating.

You should occasionally check out right wing news, if only to grasp the alternate reality they present so you know what talking point to expect being parroted at you.

[-] Brokkr@lemmy.world 38 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

We know repubs project, a lot, so does this mean that repubs are illegally voting in droves?

[-] Meron35@lemmy.world 27 points 1 month ago

Not sure if this counts as "droves" but a lot of repubs were illegally voting in the name of their dead relatives

Another GOP voter admits he committed fraud, gets light sentence - https://www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddow-show/maddowblog/another-gop-voter-admits-committed-fraud-gets-light-sentence-rcna39841

[-] ChihuahuaOfDoom@lemmy.world 27 points 1 month ago

The only time I've heard of democratic voter fraud, the woman thought she had her right to vote restored after a felony conviction but hadn't. It was a mistake not malicious like republican fraudsters.

[-] JustAnotherRando@lemmy.world 10 points 1 month ago

Not only that, she expressed that she was not certain if she was allowed, asked for guidance, and submitted a provisional vote, which I think was exactly what she was supposed to do. And then she got punished for it anyway.

[-] RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world 14 points 1 month ago

Well they’re certainly the ones who have been repeatedly caught illegally voting while screeching about fraud themselves.

[-] someguy3@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago

It's always projection, so can't see anytime else.

[-] ChronosTriggerWarning@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

I'd wager yes.

My pet conspiracy theory is that they called it The Great Steal, because they cheated so fucking hard that it was simply IMPOSSIBLE for the Dems to win '20.

[-] HubertManne@moist.catsweat.com 26 points 1 month ago

this is one of the many over the top things that makes me disreagard them as an option. the whole both sides you have to listen to everyone. not when they are so obviously full of shit. they were never great but at one point they still existed mostly in reality but man. since the 80's its been a decline that seems to be accelerating.

[-] Zink@programming.dev 10 points 1 month ago

They are so bad, and so blatant about it, that the republicans feel like a fake party invented to keep the democrats in power.

But, as always, the real version is much worse than the fictional version. The blatant shitbags actually get elected constantly! But even that isn’t bad enough. You have Trump, the traitorous corrupt bigoted scumbag who prey much qualifies as the Antichrist on paper, and he is their fucking hero. (“They” being the voters)

[-] HubertManne@moist.catsweat.com 7 points 1 month ago

I am with you. Feel the same. Still blows me away when I see or hear folks who are for them or see polls with such large numbers. is half the populace crazy? seriously I did not feel this way in the 80's and even the 90's with newt and he was pretty rediculous.

[-] stringere@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 month ago

What we're seeing now are the long term consequences of Newt and company.

[-] HubertManne@moist.catsweat.com 2 points 1 month ago

oh yeah. all the way back to at least nixon, but now they are need even bothering hiding the nasty

[-] Kolanaki@yiffit.net 1 points 1 month ago

You have Trump, the traitorous corrupt bigoted scumbag who prey much qualifies as the Antichrist on paper

Nah. The anti-christ is supposed to be someone everyone loves and preaches about peace and shit to get everyone on his side before he turns on the evil.

[-] Zink@programming.dev 2 points 1 month ago

Have you ever read one of those articles that goes point by point on what the Bible says about the Antichrist? A bunch of them are spot on. But I won’t claim every single one of them are because I don’t know the full list, lol.

[-] TokenBoomer@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

The full list won’t be revealed until the 69th horn is blown, it’s in the Bible. /s

[-] TokenBoomer@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

Then the anti-Christ is definitely Paul Rudd.

[-] Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world 16 points 1 month ago

I can see why since they define "non-citizen" as anyone who doesn't vote Republican.

[-] disguy_ovahea@lemmy.world 16 points 1 month ago

What non-citizens actually affect is house representation based on population, even though they aren’t allowed to vote in congressional elections. Republicans leverage gerrymandering to capture the power of the populated areas with limited registered voters. Just another reason why it’s so important we all vote in all elections. Democratic turnout has been below 50% for the last three elections, with a record high for a midterm election of 49% in 2018.

[-] xc2215x@lemmy.world 13 points 1 month ago

They want you to hate immigrants.

[-] Spazz@lemmynsfw.com 12 points 1 month ago

Literally every claim by Republicans are lies, half truths at best

[-] ChronosTriggerWarning@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

Every accusation is a confession. Why, it's even in the name: G.aslight O.bstruct P.roject

[-] IchNichtenLichten@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago

Who is going to risk their immigration status so they can vote?

[-] ElPenguin@lemmynsfw.com 6 points 1 month ago

Even if they did, they'd get to the polls and their names wouldn't be on the voter registration list so they'd either be told "You can't vote, you're not a citizen" if they admit they aren't a citizen or told "Here's a provisional ballot" if they lie and say they are a citizen; which would then be thrown out once votes were actually tabulated since it wouldn't clear the registered voter rolls

[-] generichate1546@lemmynsfw.com 2 points 1 month ago

The real goal is to pull all the "filthy evil minorities and poors" who will not vote against their best interest...by wrapping up "voting integrity " by bouncing all the illegals they are going to bounce lots of legitimately registered votered in republican minority areas... because the Republican party has no majority mandate on an even playing field.

In Georgia around 2016 or 17 the governor was elected. The winner was the old secretary of state who purged the voter lists by sending out a spam/junk mail looking postcard that basically said in small print of you don't confirm your residency you're off the voter registration list...but of course there was no second notice nor was there one informing the voters they were no longer registered... If the voters knew they were unregistered they perhaps could remedy it... Kicked 400 something thousand registered voters off of the voter registration lists and then won the governor's seat by less than 100,000 votes.

It's all performance theater until they get what they actually want which is to stop folks from disagreeing with the worldview they want to shove down our throats...

[-] WhyFlip@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

Objectively speaking, who actually believed this? Not this guy.

[-] Jiggle_Physics@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

I know of a lot of people who believe this.

[-] Fedizen@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

gullible people. Lots of them

[-] slurpeesoforion@startrek.website 1 points 1 month ago

So Republicans want people who barely passed highschool civics to vote for them. Got it.
