Yeah looking for something that captures that vibe. Obviously I know its bullshit, I don't care that it passes itself off as academic, but I like the fun spooky cosmic/demonic vibes.

there was a spooky podcast someone here was talking about that sounded really interesting, they DM'd me a link to a bunch of the pirate versions with a warning that the rest of the site was ridden with hentai-free so be warned

kemono is great for all sorts of piracy, but holy shit use an add blocker

i'm behind 7 adblockers normally but that's a good warning to your average hexbare user

[-] Owl@hexbear.net 5 points 1 month ago

Yeah, everyone should use an adblocker always, but I've recently had to use an adblockerless device sometimes, and A - wow it sucks and B - kemono is absolutely covered in the worst pornographic ads

I think I sent you this!

Ghost Stories for the End of the World Pod, it's like a not goofy TrueAnon

I think this is different from what you're suggesting but just based on "spooky youtube channel" the VHS horror (tbh more like PNG horror) of Gemini Home Entertainment was an unexpected treat. I think I only got introduced to it off the back of the YouTube algorithm from before I stopped using the app, so I assume its a pretty common recommendation

Try the OG Local 58, it's what spawned the analog horror genre

Yuh, that's more accurate, to describe it as such...

Not what you're asking for, but Brian David Gilbert has made a great lil piece of analog horror
There's also Local 58

If you're into video games I'd recommend inscryption.

Podcast wise ghost stories for the end of the world is pretty good. Likewise the Eat The Rich podcast https://archive.org/details/Ep-001-Waltons-Re-release.m4a

mega content warning - Nexpo is actually the channel I randomly watched to get my own recommendation for this thread, but I immediately stopped watching it because one of the items on a "creepy" top ten vid they did was straight up a child abuse video which like holy crap man thats a different vibe than Spooky Mask Caught On Camera

[-] Weedian@hexbear.net 3 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

any real air raid siren video

[-] Belly_Beanis@hexbear.net 2 points 1 month ago

The Backrooms, SCP: Dollhouse, and SCP: Overlord are great short films. Dollhouse and Overlord are by the same maker who has a great channel, I just forget what it's called.

Breadtube if it didn't suck.

Post videos you genuinely enjoy and want to share, duh. Celebrate the diversity of interests shared by chapochatters by posting a deep dive into Venetian kelp farming, I dunno. Also media criticism, bite-sized versions of left-wing theory, all the stuff you expected. But I am curious about that kelp farming thing now that you mentioned it.

Low effort / spam videos might be removed, especially weeb content.

There is a cytube that you can paste videos into and watch with whoever happens to be around. It's open submission unless there's something important to commandeer it with at the time.

A weekly watch party happens every Saturday (Sunday down under), with video nominations Saturday-Monday, voting Monday-Thursday. See the pin for whatever stage it's currently in.
