In my experience, one millimeter (1mm) is enough to stop a full ton dead in it's tracks, while also

Edit: lol early morning commenting.

"while also completely being ignored by the pallet jack when it's not carrying something "

WHAT?! WHILE ALSO WHAT?? I CAN'T START MY DAY NOT KNOWING!

[-] bstix@feddit.dk 13 points 1 month ago

Is this your first day?

Here's your forklift certificate.

Kein Ausbildungsberuf.

This is literally an unskilled job. Except you need a certificate. Which requires ~~skill~~ sorry: training and practice.

[-] watersnipje@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 1 month ago

Ah thanks, that gives some context because I didn’t really understand. Also, I was just tasting the word Gabelstaplerfahrer because it sounds funny when you say it fast.

[-] bstix@feddit.dk 1 points 1 month ago

German is easy like that.

Gabel = fork
Stapler = stacker
Farher= driver

The etymology of these words is pretty far out, but it's technically the same as forklift driver. I don't know. To me it's the same picture.

Yeah I know, I can speak German but it still has funny sounding words :D

[-] tea@lemmy.today 7 points 1 month ago

Don't bother, they already got him.

[-] Zwiebel@feddit.org 10 points 1 month ago

Might be because lifting a full ton up a milimeter by hand isn't easy?

[-] SARGE@startrek.website 4 points 1 month ago

I mean.... You're not wrong.

[-] CodingCarpenter@lemm.ee 4 points 1 month ago

Nice I'm using that next time I get laid

[-] Macropolis@lemmy.world 14 points 1 month ago

Chippy boi also can bounce a 8k lb forklift with no struggle.

[-] D61@hexbear.net 11 points 1 month ago

Oh... no... the flashbacks... no-no-no-wait-wait-wait

[-] atocci@lemmy.world 11 points 1 month ago

Vibrating, bouncing, and grinding to a halt

[-] noxy@yiffit.net 9 points 1 month ago

aaaand there goes the whole pallet

A little obstacle like a wood chip on the ground will jam up the pallet jack and stop it from moving

[-] witheyeandclaw 14 points 1 month ago

If you’re in a warehouse where everything is on a pallet, they’re everywhere.

[-] prettybunnys@sh.itjust.works 10 points 1 month ago

Manual forklift is a godsend for moving heavy stuff.

Small wood chip will render it immobile

[-] SwingingTheLamp@midwest.social 6 points 1 month ago

If this were !lotrmemes@midwest.social, the pallet jack would be the balrog, and the wood chip would be Gandalf.

[-] dogsnest@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

I'm pissed it took me a few seconds to 'get' this.

How do I reapply?

[-] idiomaddict@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

I don’t get it. Unless it’s talking about how hard it is to eat fries with a fork?

[-] atocci@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

It's a wood chip, not a fry chip. Even the smallest of bumps is enough to cause a pallet jack to grind to a stop. Instead of rolling over the "obstacle", the things are heavy enough and the wheels are small enough that they just can't, so they stop. Then you have to back it up and kick whatever dust speck it hit out of the way before continuing.

[-] idiomaddict@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

Huh. I had no idea, but it makes sense. Thanks!

[-] flicker@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

I let out a frustrated howl. Good meme!
