From what I remember, the Mirror on the Wall never said she was ugly, just that Snow White was "the fairest of them all," or "the prettiest/most beautiful one of them all." She could have been pretty still, just not the prettiest.

"Hey mirror, isn't that girl like 12?"

[-] Kusimulkku@lemm.ee 23 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

Well it didn't say she was the most bangable of them all

[-] Skullgrid@lemmy.world 14 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

How old is that mute chick prince Erik is trying to ~~bang~~ groom?

[-] MachineFab812@discuss.tchncs.de 14 points 3 months ago

16, iirc. Comes up in one of the arguments with her father. To be fair to that movie in particular, the ending wasn't "and then they banged", but more, "at some point, they got married"

How old is that mute chick prince Erik is trying groom?

still not looking great for him

[-] MachineFab812@discuss.tchncs.de 4 points 3 months ago

Don't remember if his age was specified, but I gave the movie the benefit of the doubt, not him. Her dad could wipe Erik's entire kingdom off the map if he mistreats her though, so the power dynamic is a little more unbalaced than any age issues, in her favor.

His original voice actor, Christopher Daniel Barnes, was only 16 when he recorded his voice for Eric. The producers decided to cast him because he sounded much older than his actual age.

he's described as a man, not beating the grooming allegations

16 was a man, not so long ago. Thanks for hassling me into almost giving a shit about this cartoon movie that is probably older than you. Real improvement to both our lives, right there.

Second place is the first loser, as they say

[-] chemical_cutthroat@lemmy.world 25 points 3 months ago

"Second place gets bottom shelf dick," as my grandmother was fond of saying.

(His grandfather never actually won anything, didn't need to, he just kept his penis on the top shelf in the local bar - he figured out how to win at life)

If you're not first, you're last

What if you're the only one around?

You get a full podium sweep, gotta do some acrobatics to be on all the spots for the pics though.

The mirror says most beautiful/pretty in the original german.

[-] CitizenKong@lemmy.world 30 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

Also, one of the moral points the fairy tale is making, is the fact that the queen is ugly inside.

The mirror also states that she is the most beautiful "here" but that Snow White "beyond the seven mountains" is "a thousand times more beautiful". Really rubbing it in, that mirror.

[-] Kusimulkku@lemm.ee 7 points 3 months ago

Fair is just an old way of saying beautiful

But not too much fair, just enough, the right amount.

Basically not too hot and not too cool, but just right, like that teenage bears porridge.

[-] Ilovethebomb@lemm.ee 59 points 3 months ago

Wasn't the queen supposed to be the second most beautiful in the land though?

[-] dodgy_bagel@lemmy.blahaj.zone 43 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

To be fair, the queen was in her late twenties, Snow was in her tweens, and the mirror was but one pedophile inside the kindom of pedophiles.

[-] MachineFab812@discuss.tchncs.de 14 points 3 months ago

... THAT ... was always my take as well. Just, wtf, Disney?

[-] RecluseRamble@lemmy.dbzer0.com 11 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

That story is at least 120 years older than Disney's implementation. In the original the huntsman brought back Snow White's supposed lungs and liver which the queen then ate.

[-] MachineFab812@discuss.tchncs.de 3 points 3 months ago

Right, so it has fuck-all to do with Disney's version. They had no reason to make it so the biggest apparent differences between the queen and Snow White were age and malice, but most overtly, age.

[-] Agent641@lemmy.world 10 points 3 months ago

Queen: "Whos the hottest chick in the land?"

Mirror: "IDK this pretween I guess"

Literally everyone:

[-] Bertuccio@lemmy.world 8 points 3 months ago

"fair" means pale-skinned and her name is Snow White...

[-] RecluseRamble@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 3 months ago

That's the queen from Snow White though. The girl didn't mix potions.

[-] Sylvartas@lemmy.world 2 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

They're saying that the question the witch asks is "who is the fairest ?" which does not mean "the most beautiful"
