I'm okay with this. The fact that he felt that he needed to keep it a secret says a lot though.

Yeah. Being magnanimous and supporting other countries during a crisis, assuming it didn't impact American citizens too severely ***and isn't for personal gain, should be something to advertise and celebrate. If he hid it, then we know something else was definitely up- as there always is with this fucking scammer.

It says "during 2020 shortage" right in the headline. As in, he sent them to Russia at the expense of US citizens.

Trump is a traitor

[-] FunderPants@lemmy.ca 13 points 2 days ago

Exactly what they're accusing Biden of doing with aid money right now.

[-] PapaStevesy@lemmy.world 11 points 2 days ago

The difference is there's no shortage of money, it's all just sitting there useless in the pockets of billionaires.

[-] g0d0fm15ch13f@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

No no no, don't you understand? The money HAS to sit in their pockets so they can accrue interest. It's only once they become trilionaires that they'll be able to help.

/s obviously

[-] FunderPants@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 day ago

Yes, of course! Huge difference.

[-] CosmicTurtle0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 2 days ago

The secrecy of this is the problem. We all know back then that Trump was a likely Russian asset.

I could envision, say, Biden saying "While, yes, we have a shortage here in the USA, other countries are doing worse. So I've authorized the CDC to ship a few pallets to Russia since they are having a tough time sourcing materials. Because that's what good neighbors do. So I'm asking our people to be extra diligent, rolling back any unnecessary travel and meetings until we have restocked our tests."

But we all know this was quid pro quo for Trump.

Well, past tense in that he's no longer the president. He very much is a Russian agent now.

[-] bane_killgrind@slrpnk.net 1 points 1 day ago

I wonder what they'll do to him if it's obvious he's not going to be useful anymore.

[-] Jimbabwe@lemmy.world 22 points 2 days ago

He sent a few tests to Putin himself for Putin’s own personal use. This isn’t being magnanimous or generous to the everyday Russian, this is Piss Tape Boy fetching quality medical devices for his boss.

[-] HobbitFoot@thelemmy.club 2 points 2 days ago

Trump kept it secret because America first is his brand and it is really hard justifying to his base to help another country.

[-] wolfpack86@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

To be clear, not to Russia for the Russian people.

The accusation is to Putin for his own personal use. I'd have been more than satisfied if that fucker caught covid and croaked because of lack of access to testing.

[-] Mouselemming@sh.itjust.works 8 points 2 days ago

Sharing with those in need, sure. But you know this was not that. This was Trump grifting and/or currying favor, while pulling resources from our citizens in crisis, while denying the science and spreading lies about the virus. Our "essential workers" couldn't find tests to keep their families safe, while he was shipping them out.

[-] Rapidcreek@lemmy.world 47 points 2 days ago

More conclusive evidence that Trump is Vladimir Putin's personal asset inside of the US government.

[-] frezik@midwest.social 19 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

There's tons of grift that went on with those shortages. The Trump Admin is protected from criminal investigations the same way Mr Burns' body is protected from disease; have so much of it that it doesn't matter anymore.

Don't let him take power ever again. It's literally the least we can do.

[-] MyOpinion@lemm.ee 28 points 2 days ago

Trump is a good little puppet.

[-] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago

Hm, weird. Something, something, Russia "hoax".

[-] LEDZeppelin@lemmy.world 13 points 2 days ago

Sadly this news will never reach his voter base and even if it did they will just call it fake news

[-] NocturnalMorning@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago

Can we get an article that's not paywalled?
