There are some games where if you don't do the side quests, you find yourself under leveled and struggling. Happened to me in Witcher 2 even though I thought I had completed all of the side quests in an area. Had to go back to the previous area and grind some more.

And some other games you do all sidequests and you become a monster that steamrolls through the story (like dragons dogma 2 IIRC)

IMO that's how it should be. I absolutely hate the games where I do all the side quests in a zone and still have to grind to continue the main quest in the next zone.

Real life is like the kind of games I hate. The side quests never give enough XP 😮‍💨

Completionism is an ADHD symptom?

For me it's quite the opposite. When i get overwhelmed with sidequests or see: 1/1000 feathers collected, i just nope out and straight-line the main quest.

Collectibles not so much. Side quests that just pop up on mini map or such are the way

Every minute in hyperfocus is an hour in the real world.

Every time I quit out of RimWorld, I feel like I played for 1 hour and then I see 5 fucking hours have passed.

Really? I tend to ignore side quests unless they capture my attention and are good.

Yeah, there are games where side quests are just cookie cutter and all look the same and there are ones, where you won't get full experience of the game unless you also do side quests and they can even affect game ending. Witcher 3 was such experience for me. If I would just storm through main quest, ignoring side quests I don't think the game would leave as much of a lasting impression as it did.

Witcher 3 is definitely one where I completed every side quests I could get my hands on.

But the game is so much easier with the Biggoron sword.

Ha, ho, hiya, skaaank…

Bro I have autism but not adhd and I do sidequests all the time except for when I get sidequest burnout

I also use cheats because I'm more of the person who prefers to play through the story and have fun

But most people do this regardless I they have adhd or not

i also have autism and i don't think that last statement is even true for most autistic people.
