If he did I'd consider listening again, enjoyed learning about how bad capitalist corner cutting actually was, but couldn't stand the constant anticommunist sniping.
badposting
badposting is a comm where you post badly
This is not a !the_dunk_tank@hexbear.net alternative. This is not a !memes@hexbear.net alternative. This is a place for you to post your bad posts.
Ever had a really shitty bit idea? Joke you want to take way past the point of where it was funny? Want to feel like a stand-up comedy guy who's been bombing a set for the past 30 minutes straight and at this point is just saying shit to see if people react to it? Really bad pun? A homemade cringe concoction? A cognitohazard that you have birthed into this world and have an urge to spread like chain mail?
Rules:
- Do not post good posts.
- Unauthorized goodposting is to be punished in the manner of commenting the phrase "GOOD post" followed by an emoji that has not yet been used in the thread
- Use an emoticon/kaomoji/rule-three-abiding ASCII art if the rations run out
- This is not a comm where you direct people to other people's bad posts. This is a comm where you post badly.
- This rule intentionally left blank.
- If you're struck for rule 3, skill issue, not allowed to complain about it.
Code of Conduct applies just as much here as it does everywhere else. Technically, CoC violations are bad posts. On the other hand: L + ratio + get ~~better~~ worse material bozo
but seriously, i dont understand what they're doing. do people actually like having the content interrupted by absolutely dogshit inane giggling and irrelevant idiocy? why keep the distraction people on the pod?
It didn't used to be this bad. I don't know which episode started the change but they used to be better at keeping on target with some small tangents. I think once the big Patreon money started coming in and Liam fully embraced being a mooch is when things started going wrong
He's basically admitted he treats the podcast as a way to hang out and drink with distant friends while getting paid
I think I decided I was probably done with the AzovSomething episode. I thought I'd listen to one or two more to see if it was a one off and it felt like every episode after that they said some shit
Feels like it tbh, like having AzovSomething on gave Liam and Nova the freedom to fully embrace being anticommunist slobber uranium types
The pod would sincerely be better if it was just Rocz and Gareth, and both Liam and Nova were dropped. Which sucks because November is a good host when she's forced to not get political (like with KJB)
Funnily Nova has said she regrets that episode.
He's basically admitted he treats the podcast as a way to hang out and drink with distant friends while getting paid
I mean, goals.
It all started going downhill in like episode 2 when Liam joined the podcast and had nothing to contribute.
Honesty, has he ever actually researched an episode? Roz and Nova both have.
I believe he did with a limo crash somewhere in the US but other than that no, he fully freeloads off his cohosts
He's done several bonus episodes and did a really moving one on college football.
content interrupted by absolutely dogshit inane giggling
I think the appeal of content like WTYP is that it mixed interesting information with goofy humor.
well yeeeeees, but i dont remember any humor. just goof.
Idk, I still listen to the Vulcan Bridge Disaster ep sometimes cuz I like all the jokes about Communist West Virginia.
I think the best way to listen to WTYP is basically background noise where you might learn something on the topic and then occasionally the bits that they knock out of the fucking park like Communist West Virginia or the Chapo Trap House of Sauud.
Some episodes are also gold entirely, like the one on John Forrester or the V-22 Osprey
remember when the God Damn News was like 15 minutes max? i remember
Word
Liam seems larger in size tho
I like the cartoonishly british new guy
So little bit of lore here, I met Liam irl once (I used to live in the Philly area). Dude is fucking HUGE. He's like 6'4" and looks over 300lbs.
Idk how big Roz is but I think he's struggle to eat Liam.
he doesnt have to do it in one sitting!
He's gotta cook the whole Liam or it will spoil, unless you want Roz to have moldering Liam in his basement!
ever heard of dry aging?
Wouldn't you need a huge dehumidifier for that?
i'm sure roz's home has AC in it
The nuke in Rocz' basement will keep the meat sterilized and prevent it from spoiling, it's fine.
So little bit of lore here, I met Liam irl once
my sympathies
I and he were both very drunk and didn't actually talk at all. I just recognized his voice.
I tried to listen to an episode for the first time in a year last month and it started with all three of the idiots praising HTS for beating Assad and November talking about how stupid people are if they paid attention to Rania Khalek. I'm just glad Trashfuture has enough other voices to mitigate her worst opinions from slipping out there
ok i got to say my piece since this has become a "So what in the hell is wrong with WtYP? post"
My partner and I are both fans of wtyp for various reasons (theirs more for the pure autism, me because it's great background noise when im home alone all week, also maybe some autism)
Yeah Roz pretty sure is a legit ML. But doesn't like conflict and is a bit passive/go along kind of guy and just says "I don't do geopolitics".
Go back far enough and Nova used to be the same. Maybe more a left-com. Even the opening of the Ukraine war she was very skeptical of Ukraine and NATO. Then she gets hyperfixated on the conflict, goes all NAFO, realizes she's in the wrong way later and now less so. In one ep, Roz calls her out for her Taiwan support and she basically has a meltdown on the show after he takes it down with facts and logic. Seems a lot has been going on in her personal life, I don't follow her twitter, who knows. I yell at her parasocially sometimes and wish she wouldn't talk so authoritatively. She's pure Anti-Warism.
Liam, only thing I respect about him is he does social work and seems to genuinely enjoy doing mutual aid. It's also funny how his dad makes fun of his politics. Liam's dad should replace him on the show.
New guy seems nice. They need a less cranky person on there to just be nice to balance the other sout. Also he does the kind of train stuff I like (the track work, not the trains)
Going to be seeing their live show wish me luck.
Liam's dad go on cumtown
For all the reading she does (or at least purports to do for Left on Read), I'm surprised November has as much neoliberal brain worms as she does. Add to that all the people she should be in contact with over her podcasts as well... I listen to all the WTYP episodes roughly when they come out, and she at least usually gets the cue to leave her geopolitical opinions in the news segment ever since Gareth joined on at least. She's still pretty bad on TrashFuture, unfortunately.
Echoing SovietBeerTruckOperator, when did the whole Taiwan thing between her and Roz happen? I don't entirely remember that one. I'll try re-listening to a few more recent episodes and I'll update this post if I find it.
Yes please because I can't remember the ep. It was pretty recent too. I said I would also update or just make an entirely new post if I stumble on it. Definately in the last maybe 10 eps. Obviously in the news segment but who knows maybe it popped up mid way in. It wasn't a mean callout but he just trapped her in a logic loop over her contradictionary support. (note: I think it had to do with China's right to defense against U.S. aggression over Taiwan) So look for the ep with the discussion of the chip factory maybe!
Yeah Roz pretty sure is a legit ML. But doesn't like conflict and is a bit passive/go along kind of guy and just says "I don't do geopolitics".
This is me offline.
Roz calls her out for her Taiwan support and she basically has a meltdown on the show after he takes it down with facts and logic.
When did that happen?
I will say I do get the impression they are a genuine group of friends who kinda politically align but have disagreements they sorta dance around cuz they don't want to jeopardize their friendship (and the podcast that's making them $$$)
I'll make a post about the taiwan callout if I ever cycle back to whatever ep that was and get the time stamp. Fuuuuck I forgot but he basically compared Taiwan to some illegitimate nation or movement and it sent Nova into a stuttering mess.
She basically malfunctioned like an android until Liam said they should free her from the torment. It sucks that I can't remember what the hell it was about now.
(see above we are trying to figure out ep. sometime around the discussion of the Taiwan chip factory)
Then I'd listen again. Lian delenda est
.
I never really got into it because I find it unlistenable - as the pod progressed did they expose their brainworms?
I still listen to them, I think their brainworms peaked a couple of years ago and have gotten slightly better since, but every once in a while you will still get a ridiculous comment out of left field from Liam or Nova that feels like someone throwing a cup of cold water in your face.
wtyp was always a mistake it’s the reason the donoteat channel died just as it was really starting to take off and I will always resent it for that
Fact-checked by REAL Franklin Patriots:
he would die from alcohol poisoning if he tried to eat liam
