Fumiko Kaneko, born on this day in 1903, was a Japanese anarchist, nihilist, and opponent to Japanese imperialism in Korea. Fumiko is perhaps best remembered for her "The Prison Memoirs Of A Japanese Woman", written while imprisoned after being convicted of high treason against the Japanese government.

Together, Fumiko and her Korean partner Pak Yol published two magazines which highlighted the problems Koreans faced under Japanese imperialism and showed influences of their radical politics. Sometime between 1922 and 1923, they also established a group called "F"utei-sha (Society of Malcontents)", which Fumiko identified as a group for direct action against the government.

These activities soon brought Pak and Fumiko under government scrutiny. In September 1923, the Japanese government therefore made a number of arrests, mostly Koreans, on limited evidence, and among those arrested were Pak and Fumiko.

After lengthy judicial proceedings, Fumiko and Pak were convicted of high treason for attempting to obtain bombs with the intention of killing the emperor or his son. They were both sentenced to life in prison, however Fumiko allegedly committed suicide in her cell in 1926.

Work thing: so we have cake pops for a kidd dessert thing, they're coke frozen around a popsicle stick in a popsicle mold and then dipped in chocolate and decorated for for kids, they're kinda fun. But we have had a hell of a time finding fucking popsicle sticks lately. Specifically good safe ones, arts and crafts ones are probably not that. We ended out just getting some from the dollar store, putting them through the dishwasher to sanitize them and then quick dried them in a combination of the oven and a heat lamp. Restaurants are fucking stupid.

On a brighter note, starting a new freelance project this week, and my partner hooked me up with a job interview that went really well. Scheduling the final interview next week!

Band stuff is going good, and the Odin Sphere remake on Vita is super fun.

Playing Skyrim with the "official" Survival mode, as in the version of the mod they made a creation and bundled for free with the upgrade. Having fast travel disabled confirms pretty much what a lot of people (myself included) have said that Skyrim is a more immersive game when you travel from city to city, bundling up your quests and goals.

The fast travel that is present is boats and wagons. I like that while they are safe and convenient, they're kind of like a long haul flight, you arrive at the destination exhausted and hungry. So you have to immediately seek out an inn or a warm bed.

I think the game would have benefited from a few more diegetic fast travel options. One option could be court mages teleporting you between Jarl's Keep, the cost could be 10x that of a wagon or boat (so 200-500 gold) but instantaneous so you don't get tired or hungry. Another limitation would be until the civil war is resolved you could only teleport between imperial or stormcloak aligned cities, with Whiterun being a neutral change over hub.

I also think scrolls of divine intervention that take you back to the nearest shrine in a city/town, as long as you are outside would be neat too.

(Yeah there's definitely mods for all this stuff, but I'm talking about how the straight out of the box game could have been better and more like Morrowind)

I had a deeply terrible realization after talking with the composer for my previous game today, which is that I now cannot be fully confident that anyone I commission to work on a game with me going forward isn't using AI to at least partially generate something like music, for example.

But learning to compose music that sounds as good as I'd like myself would take many, many months, if not longer, which is why it was the only thing I commissioned last time...

I know a lot of people here are trying to make a case for "AI" as a tool, and there are some uses for it that I think are probably acceptable (though I despise it in general regardless as yet another source of grand misconception among humans, not understanding what it really is or how it works), but I do not want it to have any part in any art which I create.

spoilerWell, just woke up and I'm still feeling more or less like yesterday. Maybe even better, but still taking precautions and going to be taking a bunch of stuff to stave off whatever this is.

Unfortunately my mom got worse. My dad has already been sick for what seems like 2 weeks, but had gotten tested and didn't have COVID or the flu. And my brother is still iffy from having the flu about a week ago. We had been masking at home the entire time and my brother had quarantined while he had the flu.

So 2025 stays undefeated.

Since changing their name from a racial slur, every Commanders win counts as a victory for wokeness. The fact that they've gotten this far signals a resurgence in woke. If they make it to the super bowl, that resurgence will sweep over the country imminently. If they win the super bowl, we will achieve full communism in twenty years.

Are there any Invidious instances that still work? None of the suggestions of HexReplyBot still work: yewtu.be is blocked by YouTube, inv.nadeko.net is blocked by YouTube, yt.artemislena.eu is being shut down, piped.video requires JavaScript and then is stuck at a loading screen forever.
