Is Biden compromised or something? He doesn’t seem to realize that his name is fucking poison to dems and reps alike. Why is he so intent on fucking us over more? You destroyed us. Fuck off.

[–] inclementimmigrant@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Oh Fuck Off you doddering old fool that gave us Trump.

[–] Auli@lemmy.ca 0 points 1 day ago

Ah Americans blaming everyone but themselves who voted him in. Yes you might not have but as a whole the American people did or choose to sit out.

[–] ragingdachshund@lemm.ee 12 points 1 day ago

No. Thanks for your service blah blah blah, but his generation of limp dick, self serving moldy dinner rolls are what got us here in the first place. Take Chuck and Hakeem with you

[–] TomMasz@lemmy.world 92 points 2 days ago

No. Please enjoy your retirement.

[–] gravitas_deficiency@sh.itjust.works 76 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (6 children)

The Bidens need to stay the fuck out. For good. You killed your own political dynasty, dipshit. Stay down.

Edit: Jesus fuck, what a complete tool:

Former President Joe Biden has told some Democratic leaders he’ll raise funds, campaign and do anything else necessary for Democrats to recover lost ground

Really? You’ll do anything to recover the ground YOU lost? Except keep your promise to not campaign for another term? Or listen to constituents instead of consultants? Or do anything meaningful to preemptively stop fascism? Or bow out of the presidential campaign when it becomes painfully obvious that you have neither the temperament or mental acuity for the situation at hand? Or relinquish control of a presidential campaign that isn’t yours anymore? Or-

You get the idea.

Stay down, Biden. Your “help” looks a whole fucking lot like leading lambs to the slaughter. Nobody wants you or your help.

Biden had his chance and squandered it by failing to build any trust with the voting public. We need a completely new generation of leadership and that includes house and senate leadership.

[–] circuitfarmer 36 points 2 days ago (1 children)

No. If you want to be useful, convince some other dinosaur Dems to retire.

You people really need to go and build a third party, one that actually is everything the republicans accuse the democrats of being.

[–] MisterOwl@lemmy.world 12 points 2 days ago

Fuck off, Joe. You've done enough damage. Go away.

[–] Dragod@lemmy.world 17 points 2 days ago

The only way he could help is if he invented a time machine and went back in time to convince himself to announce he isn't going to pursue a second term in 2022. Or immediately stop supplying Israel with bombs after it became clear they weren't going to stop. Or better yet, go back to 2020 and don't screw Bernie out of winning the nomination. Selfish prick.

[–] rickyrigatoni@lemm.ee 15 points 2 days ago

This is all your fault. Go to the nursing home and stay there.

[–] mysticpickle@lemmy.ca 18 points 2 days ago
[–] jordanlund@lemmy.world 25 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Yeah, no. Your career ended during the debate.

[–] YtA4QCam2A9j7EfTgHrH@infosec.pub 11 points 2 days ago (2 children)

I’d argue his career ended when he decided that genocide was wonderful

[–] Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world 14 points 2 days ago (1 children)
[–] Spacehooks@reddthat.com 3 points 1 day ago

His Super predators speech in 1994. I don't much before that.

[–] EmpireInDecay@lemmy.ml 5 points 2 days ago

There is no genocide

The entire DNC

[–] Sixtyforce@sh.itjust.works 5 points 2 days ago

Couldn't win against Trump. Nothing more needs to be said. It's pathetic.

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 26 points 2 days ago (1 children)

The best thing he could do is be just as visible as an ex-president as he was while he was president...

Meaning the most I want to hear from that asshat is a few mumbled sentences between exiting a building and entering a vehicle, but I'd prefer to just never hear from him again.

Neoliberals have poisoned the party to the point that we'd all be better off if we never heard a squeak from them again

[–] CMLVI@lemmy.world 14 points 2 days ago (1 children)

He can put sunglasses on for memes and shit. His sole purpose should just be pointing at current egg prices with no words spoken.

[–] Tolookah@discuss.tchncs.de 7 points 2 days ago

I'd accept that.

[–] macarthur_park@lemmy.world 24 points 2 days ago

At last someone has answered the call for new, young leaders with fresh ideas.

[–] LodeMike@lemmy.today 19 points 2 days ago

Kindly fuck off

[–] frozenpopsicle@lemmy.dbzer0.com 10 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Holy shit! He's still alive?

[–] SkyezOpen@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

Feinstein kept going years after her death.

[–] EmpireInDecay@lemmy.ml 10 points 2 days ago

He's likely not even aware that he was president.

[–] TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world 12 points 2 days ago (1 children)

It physically hurts me to think about the number of times here, on this platform, people tried to gaslight us on this.

First it never happened.

Then, when we showed them the interview where he said it, we were told it was just "misconstruing" what Biden said.

Then, it wasn't a campaign promise.

Then, when in 2024 when Biden confirmed it was a campaign promise, it didn't matter, because "beating Trump" was too important; but if "beating Trump" was so important, then why were they insisting on sticking with Biden?

I just. Sometimes I can't even.

[–] eugenevdebs@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 2 days ago (2 children)

That didn't happen. And if it did, it wasn't that bad. And if it was, that's not a big deal. And if it is, that's not my fault. And if it was, I didn't mean it. And if I did, you deserved it.

The party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command. His heart sank as he thought of the enormous power arrayed against him, the ease with which any Party intellectual would overthrow him in debate, the subtle arguments which he would not be able to understand, much less answer. And yet he was in the right! They were wrong and he was right.

It sucks that the Democrats are the Republican party of 2012.

More neoliberalism isn't gonna fix jack shit. It'll barely float Canada for the next 4 years ffs.

[–] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 13 points 2 days ago

Yeah, of course. The way forward is relying on failed gerontocrats.

[–] ALoafOfBread@lemmy.ml 11 points 2 days ago (2 children)

The headline is disingenuously framed. He isn't saying he's gearing up for a presidential bid. He's saying he'll throw his weight in to build up support for the party. Idk that that'll do any good, but it isn't a bad thing for him to do necessarily.

He's an established guy who a lot of moderates and libs have historically liked. Plus, I guarantee he knows a lot of big money donors who he might be able to convince to put their money toward a more progressive candidate - that could be useful if he was willing to support a more progressive direction & agenda. Now will he do that or just insist on more of the same bullshit that ran the party into the ground...? Seems like he might not exactly have his finger on the dying pulse of american democracy, so to speak

[–] kobra@lemm.ee 8 points 2 days ago

Yeah I'm mostly in agreement with everyone that Biden ain’t it, but damn it’s nice to see a past president willing to help.

[–] Zaktor@sopuli.xyz 6 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

Historically is doing a lot of work there. Remember the 2020 primary? Because like half the early primary was moderates looking for a better candidate than the default pick. His events were weakly attended and his fundraising was mediocre.

But more importantly, not all help is beneficial. Once you've got enough stink on you, being a public face of the party isn't necessarily helping it. I still maintain Nancy Pelosi, with her stock trading, billionaire heiress weddings, kente cloth kneeling, and left punching was a drag on the party. She reminded a lot of people about their negative opinions of the party every time she was in the headlines.

And I think Biden's the same. He's weak, old, delusional, and status quo, and above all he's heavily responsible for our loss. The more the party props up old leaders just because they were leaders, the less it speaks to being able to make the changes needed to win.

It's not the funding that's the problem, it's the credibility and trust that the Dems have cratered that needs repairing.

[–] octopus_ink@slrpnk.net 9 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (2 children)

ITT thread - lots of folks downvoting the folks rightly condemning Biden, but strangely no one showing up to debate them. 🤔

[–] djsoren19@lemmy.blahaj.zone 8 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Just to be pedantic on the internet, it's ITT: In This Thread. ITT thread is like saying ATM machine.

Yeah, we're good, you might actually hurt us if you help.

[–] Chocrates@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago

Just go away Biden! You have left your mark on the world, let a newer and younger generation with sane policies take over.

[–] thisphuckinguy@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago

Nope. Stay home

[–] Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago

The weird nerd model UN kids who are excited to meet Biden are the same as the weird nerds who run the party.
