Elon Musk’s so-called Department of Government Efficiency deleted over 30 different government contracts from its website’s “Wall of Receipts” this week after a New York Times investigation found them to still be active.

The Times found 44 contracts that DOGE had claimed to end, but were still active.

The 44 contracts accounted for some $220 million of federal spending Musk’s team claimed it had saved.

In late April, the Partnership for Public Service (PSP) found that from the $160 billion DOGE had claimed to save the federal government, some additional $130 billion would need to be spent for paid leave, re-hiring mistakenly fired workers, and lost productivity.

Elon Musk is a Nazi, a stock-tanking business man, and he's also horrible at government "service".

So, because of him, the people are getting less, many are left without jobs, services are gutted, and... we're not saving so much money after all.

The ceaseless failures of Nazi Elon Musk are truly remarkable.

At this point you can't just put all the blame on Muskrat

The American government and all its supporters are complicit in handing over the keys to the government car to an idiot teenager with a Hitler fetish.

[–] billiam0202@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago (1 children)

It's obvious, right?

In exchange for amplifying the right on Twitter and bankrolling Trump with cash, the GOP allowed Musk to eliminate the government agencies that were investigating him for his shitty business practices.

AKA all of them

[–] I_Fart_Glitter@lemmy.world 23 points 2 months ago (2 children)

He did convince lawmakers that white Afrikaners need US refugee status.. so there’s there that.

[–] k0e3@lemmy.ca 20 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Jeez, now the US is gonna have even more white supremacists on welfare. Good luck with that, I guess.

[–] Fiivemacs@lemmy.ca 4 points 2 months ago

That's the point...they aren't citizens, they are employees who will be trained in warfare.

[–] WhiskyTangoFoxtrot@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

Eh, they'll just become part of the background noise in the US, but South Africa being rid of them might improve things over there.

[–] Ledericas@lemm.ee 4 points 2 months ago

trump is quite easy to convince, he probably reminds trump he has to pay back the almost 300mil he spent on him.

I really hate this guy’s fucking face.

[–] tacosanonymous@lemm.ee 35 points 2 months ago

Honestly surprised it got taken down. None of them seem that perturbed by being fact checked.

[–] Trimatrix@lemmy.world 26 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Lets also not forget that this is peanuts compared to the national budget even if it was true.

I am not saying to cut the national defense budget but can you imagine the low hanging fruit that can be gained just doing an audit.

[–] Reverendender@sh.itjust.works 7 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Which has literally never been successfully done

https://youtu.be/50MusF365U0

That's the thing tho... They don't care or want to pass an audit

[–] Amberskin@europe.pub 24 points 2 months ago

Uh, it looks like someone has finally found some real ‘fraud’.

[–] partial_accumen@lemmy.world 21 points 2 months ago (1 children)

"Move fast and break things! What? We have to pay extra money to fix things we break accidentally? But that will really cut into money we claim to save! This sucks!"

[–] adarza@lemmy.ca 18 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

Move fast and break things

that's really all they were after. fuck the system up and destroy as much as possible before anyone can stop them..

bonus points if something trashed benefited or supported women, lgbtq, immigrants, or anyone not white and male, in any way.

extra bonus points if campaign mega-donors or the ultra-wealthy or administration officials can personally profit off the destruction.

[–] Regrettable_incident@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

They definitely were after fucking stuff up. A lot of republicans are after small government and 'states' rights' - they don't give a shit if musk saves money or not just so long as he dismantles the federal government.

[–] Regrettable_incident@lemmy.world 17 points 2 months ago (2 children)

I know it's not cool to mock someone's physical appearance, but every photo I see of this fucker he looks more like a potato than the last. I believe he's also wearing a medallion in this one.

When I was a kid, I had one of the original Mr potato head toys that used a real potato instead of a plastic body - you'd kind of pin the nose, hat, etc to the potato. If I still had that toy I could make a likeness of musk that was indistinguishable from the real thing.

[–] AA5B@lemmy.world 15 points 2 months ago

from the $160 billion DOGE had claimed to save the federal government, some additional $130 billion would need to be spent

And that doesn’t count IRS not being able to enforce govt income

[–] Kurious84@eviltoast.org 15 points 2 months ago

The way he ran that tells you everything. He got very lucky and was brutally ambitious and made a fortune. But he's bat shit crazy and a Moron. Pretty much explains why he's friends with Trump.

40% of the nation's budget is blown on military spending, the next highest military spender, China, spends a quarter what the United States spends.

Of course, none of it matters if you just refuse to collect taxes. So DOGE "saved" 180 billion, it's not true but even if it was - the fuck does it matter in the face of a 4.2 trillion reduction in tax assessments?

[–] Critical_Thinker@lemm.ee 4 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

By 40% you mean about 13%, right? https://usafacts.org/government-spending/

We haven't had 40% of spending in defense since about the time we put a man on the moon.

[–] Supervisor194@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

No, I was referring to discretionary spending.

[–] SeeMarkFly@lemmy.ml 6 points 2 months ago
