Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). 3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. 4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

He just wanted to break OPSEC in both directions.

In all things, a balance.

No one should be surprised. There's never been consequences. Why would someone not delete evidence, when from easily Nixon, Reagan and on. There's been zero consequence.

He should be forced to serve the rest of his short term from a jail cell. But best Democrats and all the other elected officials can do is make concerned faces. Shaking their heads.

Has anyone tried folding their arms?

[–] ChickenLadyLovesLife@lemmy.world 3 points 13 hours ago

I'm saving up my fucks-to-give for the strongly worded letter to the editor.

[–] kuvwert@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 12 hours ago

Oooooooo I know they can make cute little signs and occasionally lift them up... but not too much cause you dont want to make a scene

[–] boaratio@lemmy.world 10 points 1 day ago (1 children)

We tried finger wagging but that didn't work. We'll try the arm thing next time.

[–] TheLowestStone@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago (2 children)

That sounds like a lot of work. How about we compromise on a stern look?

[–] SupraMario@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Small signs really showed them. They should try that again.

[–] nullPointer@programming.dev 4 points 1 day ago

when the foot-tapping starts, you know it's on.

[–] boaratio@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

What about a solid brow beating?

[–] aubeynarf@lemmynsfw.com 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

“Democrats” are who you call out here? Why would you say that?

[–] Eldritch@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago (2 children)

I called them all out. I named Democrats specifically, because pushing back against all of this should have been job one from day one. But I have personally watched them flail and fail for 4 plus decades. In fact even recently I've watched some Democrats whom I had previously respected and thought well of appease and enable the fascists. Like Cory Booker. I called him out specifically because we expect better of them. We don't have reason to expect better of them but we do.

By what nonexistent levers of power do you expect them to hold the total-majority government to account? All they have is the ability to do is complain about the situation in the same way you are complaining about them.

Rarely are politicians true community organizers like Obama. Most of them are funded and elected because of their electability and nothing else. They dont possess the skills you think they do. Were lucky if they can be arsed to put their drink down and read the shit they vote on

None, just at least give the posture and appearance of trying. It's a low bar they're failing. You know, not voting for grossly disqualified candidates in the name of bipartisanship. As Booker has.

No one is asking them to be community organizers. Just not to be enablers of fascists. Showing strong signs that they stand against them and with the people.

[–] Smoogs@lemmy.world 2 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

So you still choose to whine about dems when they are out numbered? You literally voted them out. This isn’t on dems anymore. Blame the reps standing there and clapping while doing all the wrong things. They are doing this shit. Not the dems.

[–] Eldritch@lemmy.world 2 points 14 hours ago

LOL, you quite literally have no clue. Don't get me wrong I understand. There's a lot of blind criticism without nuance that gets passed around on lemmy.

Despite being an anarchist, and not having anyone to endorse in the National election. I got endless hate for pointing out that Gaza wasn't on the ballot. That it was either going to be a Democrat or a Republican and we would pray that it wasn't a republican. That we should do whatever it takes to ensure the Republicans didn't win. I e voting for the next most likely to win candidate aka the Democrats. That the constant sniping at Biden / Harris over Gaza was only helping the Republican.

I voted for Harris. Because despite disagreeing with the Democrats vehemently on many fronts. Staving off open fascism and all the people now being hurt by it was important. I'm a pragmatist before an idealogue. My criticism of Democrats isn't coming from irreconcilable ideological grounds. Despite disagreeing with them I have no issue working with them when interests align. But let's be real. As a party they've made decades worth of unforced errors. And they still are. They need to be better. They need to push back. Even just making gestures for show. Which they really aren't. Mid terms are coming. They need to show people why to vote for them.

[–] ArchmageAzor@lemmy.world 47 points 1 day ago (1 children)

The downside: The US government has been overrun by fascists, and the people won't remove them

The upside: These fascists are so utterly incompetent that they'll remove themselves before long.

[–] ohulancutash@feddit.uk 33 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Mussolini lost his first invasion of Abyssinia against men in grass skirts armed with spears. At one point he lost most of his air force (he eventually found them though.)

Fascism means incompetence, but people get hurt anyway.

[–] zurchpet@lemmy.ml 6 points 19 hours ago

Yeah.

Fascism always loses eventually.

The problem is what they destroy on the way.

[–] foggy@lemmy.world 14 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I can't wait til the ego fuel runs dry and these fucks are incarcerated.

[–] Nougat@fedia.io 16 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Reagan suffered no consequences for Iran-Contra, you think this’ll be different? There will be a singular Ollie North and then it’ll all just go away.

You can't skateboard your way out of all your problems, kid.

[–] foggy@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Reagan was the president. This is not an apt comparison.

We're talking about Hegseth.

[–] DarkFuture@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago

There is no accountability within the Republican party, so nothing will happen.

[–] PunnyName@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago

Send his ass off to the Hague.

Problem solved! /s

[–] dmtalon@infosec.pub 3 points 1 day ago

And the exact same amount of accountability will be applied here.
