that's gotta be a nice moment, I am still eagerly awaiting the day my kid can make his own sandwich

[–] beerclue@lemmy.world 35 points 1 month ago

Oh, he still expects me to cook for him every day, he just wanted to impress his friends :) Kinda worked, impressed me too, now if I could only convince him to try to cook and bake more stuff...

Did he clean up afterwards? That seems to be the part my kids struggle with.

[–] beerclue@lemmy.world 15 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Lol, hell no, the kitchen was a hellscape :)) I did delegate to him the next dishwasher load & unload :)

[–] artifex@lemmy.zip 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

yeah I think I’d cook more fun stuff too if I didn’t have to clean up afterward. 😂

Don't clean afterwards, clean while cooking. There are a lot of moments while cooking where you wait until X, use those to clean and organise. If you do it right, the moment where you serve all that needs cleaning is the last pot.

Those are the best meals, just had one like it last night

Pro tip: line your baking tray with parchment paper before placing the ramekins in the water bath - catches any spills and makes clean-up so much esier!

This looks incredible!

[–] thefartographer@lemm.ee 10 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Did he make enough for the entire class? Where's mine???

[–] beerclue@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago

he made 6 ramekins, four down, two to go :D

Man, I love seeing supportive parents. We definitely need more, that's for sure.

[–] BroBot9000@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago

That’s awesome! ♥️

for the real experience I hope you gave him one o' these

[–] beerclue@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I don't know the reference 🫣

[–] funkless_eck@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Joe from Masterchef. He does a trademark angry look as he eats food so you don't know if he likes it or not

[–] beerclue@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Oh, I didn't watch the show. It's now in my sonarr :D

[–] funkless_eck@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 month ago

honestly I prefer the British version, which is more about the cooking. The US version (which Joe, pictured is the host of) is a bit too dramatic / reality TV for my tastes but my partner likes it.

[–] a4ng3l@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Looks delicious. Did he made it from scratch ?

[–] beerclue@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Yes, he even went to the grocery store by bike as I was busy with work! He did ask me to top up his debit card :)

[–] a4ng3l@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

Neat :) it certainly looks delicious ! Congrats to the chef !

This is awesome! Love that he's into cooking.

[–] beerclue@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

I think it's really cool too. It's this new thing he and his friend group are doing, after the usual gaming and just hanging out :)

[–] jerkface@lemmy.ca -5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Just ask that you spare a moment to think of the cruelty and violence that went into it.

[–] sprite0@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 month ago

now we don't know a thing about that boys upbringing
