Image is from this article, of a Chilean copper quarry.

Title is a reference to Trump's social media post about copper, which was, as usual, mostly deranged.

Trying to follow Trump's administration is pretty difficult, but as of right now, he is threatening 30% tariffs on Mexico and the EU starting on August 1st, as well as new tariff announcements on a bunch of other countries (including, bizarrely, a 50% tariff on Brazil), and also apparently a 50% tariff on copper, which the US imports half its supply of and is, of course, a very important metal in many applications.

I'm not sure what the plan is to bring back domestic copper production beyond hoping that it just sorta works out, but prominent copper producers, such as Chile and Canada, seem both concerned and confused. Reuters had a line that made me chuckle:

Boric said he was awaiting official communication from the U.S. government, including whether the tariffs would include copper cathodes, and questioned "whether this will actually be implemented or not."

Big mood, Boric.

Every US congressperson besides Rashida Tlaib, everyone in the previous and current administrations, every defense contractor who turns a blind eye to the carnage they aid, every NATO countries’ heads of state, every person who has even a degree-removed connection to the Infant Death Force and the pathetic farce that is the Gaza Holocaust Facilitators, the diaspora collaborator organizations that operate as pipelines to Birthright and warp the horror of the Holocaust in order to carry out their own, the lobbyists and donors that incentivize the horror, the collaborator regimes who gum up the rage and sorrow and facilitate the status quo, the propagandists who recite the creed of Goebbels, the rabid settler dogs, the hooligan hitlerites on the ground, the entire command of the IDF and the entire Israeli government. Etcetera.

If there is any justice in this world, we need a second Nuremberg bare minimum. But if there has been anything these past two years has taught me, it is that the Red Army was the most equipped moral and just army to ever grace this earth. We’ll be lucky to see Netanyahu upside-down. What a fucking disgrace.

The last few years have been even more radicalizing for me. "Never again" has never sounded so empty and hollow. The ruling class is absolutely fine with genocide so long as it aligns with their goals.

Capital just has to remove the mask for long enough to kill everyone you've ever known. The world is getting a peek at what that means in Gaza but we still mostly just watch helplessly

Seems like the Palestinian resistance in Gaza has been preparing wide crackdowns on infiltrators, traitors, and agents

“ 🚨 A high-ranking security source in the Palestinian resistance to Al-Jazeera: — We have a blacklist of war profiteers, organized gangs, and agents of the occupation.

Those listed are under our surveillance, and we will hold revolutionary trials for them as soon as a suitable opportunity arises.

We will work to publish the blacklist to the public in preparation for retribution.

If these individuals do not return to their people and repent for their crimes, there will be no escape from publishing the list.

The sheltering of suspects by the enemy prevents the swift control of chaos, monopolization, and crime.

We warn the suspects that the occupation's cover is temporary, and they will be exposed before their people.”

At Hampton Synagogue this morning, Andrew Cuomo said he "didn't debunk" Mamdani enough.

Cuomo added that Mamdani got "more than 50 percent" of the Jewish vote.

I like he says factual things but leaves the implication of “well of the kids are wrong because they are young and not wise and smart like us”; as if everyone didn’t know that boomer brains are fried and the entire public support for Israel has been built on lies over the decades.

Go ahead fuckface, what exactly did Mamdani get wrong that you would have “debunked”.

Edit: actually, his comment about “being pro-Palestine isn’t incompatible with being anti-Israel” is wrong. The under-40 pro-Palestine Jewish people I know all uniformly anti-Israel.

Chinese premier announces construction of Yarlung Zangbo hydropower project

NYINGCHI, Xizang, July 19 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Li Qiang announced Saturday the start of the construction of a hydropower project in the lower reaches of the Yarlung Zangbo River.

Li, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, made the announcement while attending a groundbreaking ceremony in Nyingchi City, southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region.

The groundbreaking ceremony took place at the dam site of Nyingchi's Mainling hydropower station. Representatives from various organizations, including the National Development and Reform Commission and the Power Construction Corporation of China, spoke at the ceremony.

The ceremony was also attended by members of an expert advisory committee for the construction of the hydropower project, as well as representatives of local residents.

The project will consist of five cascade hydropower stations, with a total investment estimated at around 1.2 trillion yuan (about 167.8 billion U.S. dollars).

The project will primarily deliver electricity for external consumption while also addressing local demand in Xizang.

A ceremony has recently been held in Beijing to inaugurate the China Yajiang Group Co., Ltd. for the smooth construction and operation of the hydropower project. Vice Premier Zhang Guoqing, also a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, attended the inauguration ceremony. ■

Warning of catastrophic situation in Gaza due to Israeli aggression - Prensa Latina

Article

Ramallah, Jul 20 (Prensa Latina) The situation in the Gaza Strip is catastrophic and unprecedented in modern history as a result of the daily attacks and the blockade imposed by Israel, a Palestinian official source denounced today.

The director general of the Government Media Office in Gaza, Ismail Thawabta, stressed that more than two million people there are living under bombardment, hunger and deprivation of the most basic necessities of life.

He also warned of the total destruction of infrastructure, the collapse of the health sector and the severe shortage of food, water and medicine.

He also warned of the worsening famine in the territory and the failure of international efforts to bring some relief, while, he said, hundreds of aid trucks remain stranded on the other side of the border.

In the face of this situation, Al-Thawabat called for the establishment of safe and permanent humanitarian corridors under international supervision, the elimination of the politicization of aid and an end to its manipulation.

He also demanded an urgent investigation into the famine caused by Israel and the accountability of those responsible.

The official considered it necessary to lift the blockade on the Strip, and also to stop the military aggression and the policies of displacement, hunger and destruction.

In this regard, he called on the European Union to break “the cycle of political and moral complicity and take immediate and practical steps to free itself from any complicity in the genocide” against the Palestinian people.

In a joint letter, the governments of Chile, Brazil, Spain, Colombia and Uruguay defend the democratic regime and call on society to react against American authoritarianism and Latin American and European fascism.

“I am certain that no kind of intimidation or threat, from anyone, will compromise the most important mission of national powers and institutions, which is to act permanently in defense and preservation of the Democratic Rule of Law,” wrote Brazilian President, Lula da Silva.

"They are a people who know how to defend their sovereignty. Even Brazilian businessmen have decided to support Lula and that's how it should be, all together," wrote Colombian President Gustavo Petro.

"Fascism needs to be fought because it's not an ideology, it's a crime against humanity." wrote Chilean President, Gabriel Boric.

Cuban and Chinese foreign ministries strengthen dialogue and cooperation - Prensa Latina

Article

Beijing, Jul 20 (Prensa Latina) Cuba's First Deputy Foreign Minister Gerardo Peñalver arrived here today on a working visit focused on inter-chancellery political consultations.

As part of his agenda in the Asian giant, Peñalver will meet with Executive Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Ma Zhaoxu, as well as with other high-ranking government and Communist Party of China officials.

The program will last until Tuesday and also includes visits to places of socio-economic interest, as well as an exchange with members of the Cuban state mission here.

In an interview with Prensa Latina during his stay in China last May, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez emphasized that the bilateral relationship is of a special nature with strategic scope and reiterated his gratitude to the Asian giant for its support to the island's development.

The head of Cuban diplomacy recalled that this year both countries celebrate the 65th anniversary of diplomatic ties, characterized by deep mutual political trust and high exchange between the respective Communist Parties, governments and organizations.

Rodriguez highlighted the growing dynamism of economic-commercial relations, as well as in the fields of culture, science, academia, sports and other multiple sectors of society.

Although diplomatic ties will be 65 years old, historical links date back to the 19th century when the first Chinese citizens arrived in the Antillean country.

On September 2, 1960, in front of more than one million Cubans, the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, urged breaking relations with the Taiwanese government to establish diplomatic ties with Mao Zedong's People's Republic of China.

On September 28 of that year, Cuba became the first country in Latin America and the Caribbean to establish such ties with the new China, paving the way for relations between the Asian giant and the rest of the nations in the region.

I'm not advocating the view myself, yet one could easily see the thru-line of a view that "Jews" control X, Y, or Z. I know this is a deliberate tactic of wider zionist strategy. The knowledge of such a tactic doesn't prevent one from recoiling at the perniciousness of it. I hate that I'm here. On this planet. At this point.

More than 1,000 reported dead in violence in southern Syria - Prensa Latina

Article

Damascus, Jul 20 (Prensa Latina) The death toll after a week of violent clashes in the southern Syrian province of Sweida exceeded a thousand, according to a new balance documented today by human rights organizations.

Reports published by several media outlets detailed that 336 fighters and 298 civilians from the Druze community were killed, including 194 who were executed.

Also, 342 members of the Ministry of Defense and the General Security Service lost their lives during the clashes, in addition to 21 Bedouin tribal fighters, three of whom were civilians executed by Druze militants.

On the other hand, Israeli air strikes during the escalation resulted in the death of 15 members of the government forces. In this context, Syrian Interior Ministry spokesman Noureddine Al-Baba announced that the town of Sweida has been evacuated of all tribal fighters and that clashes in urban neighborhoods have ceased.

In turn, Interior Minister Anas Khattab said that after several bloody days, the Internal Security Forces managed to impose a ceasefire in Sweida, paving the way for the exchange of prisoners and the gradual return to stability throughout the governorate.

Amid the critical humanitarian situation in the region, the Syrian Arab Red Crescent has sent a convoy of humanitarian aid to Deraa as part of its emergency response.

The organization explained in a statement that the trucks that arrived today are in addition to seven earlier ones, bringing the total number to 17, with supplies for some five thousand displaced families from Sweida.

The government also sent a convoy of medical assistance, food and humanitarian aid to Sweida.

However, according to allegations by the authorities, Druze leader Hikmat Al-Hajri refused to allow the official government delegation to enter.

Earlier, the Syrian presidency announced an immediate and comprehensive ceasefire in response to the critical humanitarian and security situation in the country, in order to stop the bloodshed and preserve the unity of the national territory.

Some 800,000 inhabitants of Sweida are facing dramatic conditions due to shortages of basic commodities, food, medicines and a serious lack of milk for children.

UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk declared that the bloodshed and violence must stop in Sweida, and called for building “a new Syria that works for all its citizens, equal in dignity and without discrimination”.

There's a great quote, I think it's Trotsky, about the relative cheapness of life in the years following the outbreak of WW1 vs prior to that. Something about how thousands now perish in a day and nobody blinks when that would be unconscionable a few years before.

New patterns are being observed in Russian large scale air raids on Ukraine. Over the last two attacks, Russia has been fully loading it's Tu-95MSM bombers with Kh-101 cruise missiles, a first in the war. A single Tu-95MSM can carry 8 Kh-101 cruise missiles at a time, all on external pylons/hardpoints, it can't carry the Kh-101 internally (only the Kh-55 and it's conventionally armed variants can be carried internally). In the first attack about a week or two ago, Russia fired 26 cruise missiles from 4 Tu-95MSM bombers, and two days ago they fired 15 missiles from 2 Tu-95 MSM bombers, according to monitoring channels for the number of bombers, and the Ukrainian Air Force for the amount of missiles fired. So close to, or just over the maximum payload. Either a miscount by the Ukrainian Air Force (monitoring the movements of strategic bombers is a lot more difficult now, and Ukraine has always been shoddy with interception rates, intercepting 25/26 missiles obviously did not happen), or Russia fired an inert Kh-55 as a decoy, or some remaining Kh-555 stock (no longer in production). Either way, the trend is clear.

That brings the question, why only now? In my opinion, it's because of three reasons: the loss of multiple Tu-95 MSM specification bombers to Ukrainian attacks (Operation Spiderweb), the drag penalty, and aerial refueling being a scarce resource in the Russian Air Force.

Fully loading an aircraft with external weapons stores comes at a large penalty to aircraft performance and range due to the increased aerodynamic drag, which reduces top speed and cruise speed, increases fuel consumption, may require more maintenance due to increased stress on components, etc. Russia, before the start of the Ukraine war, only had 19 Il-78 aerial refueling aircraft in service, and bombers may require multiple aircraft to refuel during a mission if fully loaded, these are large planes. So it made more strategic sense for the Russian Air Force to fly out more bombers from airbases like Olenya, with partial weapons loads, and avoid the the use of aerial refueling.

However, with the loss of multiple Tu-95 MSM bombers to the Ukrainian attack, this strategy is no longer optimal. So now Russia fully loads the bombers up with Kh-101 cruise missiles, and if they're flying from further out than Olenya (one of the airbases where Russia lost bombers), they utilise aerial refueling so that they can have the required amount of fuel to get to the launch lines and return to base. The latest mission was the first to utilise aerial refueling according to monitoring channels. Kh-101 cruise missile attacks are also increasingly supplemented by ground launched Kalibr cruise missiles, from the Iskander K system, to supplement the numbers.

Have the Russians tried what Iran did to Israel and just use a massive wave of strikes to overwhelm air defense? Like, I don't want to be the armchair general, but when Iran used it's Ult it made Israel and US white peace for a time. What needs to be different about Russias approach?

[–] companero@hexbear.net 36 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Russia suffers from a lack of targets. If they focused everything in a few enormous waves, Ukraine would simply hide their valuables until the coast was clear.

Also Ukraine is 27x larger than Israel so they aren't really comparable.

[–] smokeppb@hexbear.net 7 points 1 day ago

Thank you, this is true.

[–] MarmiteLover123@hexbear.net 22 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

We don't see the combined waves of synchronised attacks anymore (using a combination of cruise missiles, drones and ballistic missiles arriving at the same time to overwhelm air defences at a location) because the various air defence systems are now more specialised in what they target and layered, with different systems dealing with the various threats, different systems shooting down the drones, cruise missiles, ballistic missiles, etc. HAWK, NASAMS, and Raven nearer the frontlines for drones and cruise missiles, mobile gun based defences and ground/sea launched APKWS for hunting down drones, PATRIOT/S-300V for ballistic missiles. Also Ukrainian fighter jets can hunt down cruise missiles and drones too, and Ukrainian attack helicopters can shoot down drones. There were plenty of these combined attacks at the beginning of the war when the air defence network wasn't as specialised, for instance a PATRIOT battery defending against all these threats at a military base or city.

What Iran did to Israel was launch hundreds of ballistic missiles at Israel in a conflict that bordered on existential for elements of Iran's political and military class, with dozens of generals assassinated, and with an Israeli assassination attempt on the president and security council. So Iran fired as many missiles as it could at Israel with the intent to cause maximum damage at first, switching to an attritional strategy later, firing less missiles per salvo. The Iranian one way attack drones weren't synchronised with ballistic missile attacks as Israel's air defences are also highly specialised and seperated, and I think only one or two hit out of over 1000 launched.

Why doesn't Russia do that? Probably because they don't have as many ballistic missiles ready to go at once without compromising stockpiles elsewhere. Iskander-M ballistic missiles that can hit Ukrainian cities are also used on the frontlines to take out Ukrainian air defence systems, troop concentrations, etc as Russia is mainly fighting a land war. Iran was not fighting a land war, and it's ballistic missiles with the range to hit Israel are designed just for that, to hit Israel, so they could expend them. Iran has seperate shorter range ballistic missiles and artillery rockets for their army and IRGC units. Also, for these longer range ground ballistic missiles, btween the range of 500-5500km, Russia doesn't have many of these weapons as they were banned by the INF treaty up until 2019. Iran was not subject to this treaty. Russia does launch hundreds of attack drones per attack to overwhelm Ukrainian anti drone air defences, so they definitely do launch large waves of attacks. The drones have a higher success rate for Russia than Iran because the distance involved is a lot less for hitting most targets, and the US Air Force is not shooting down drones for Ukraine. The conflict is also not existential at this point in time for Russia, Russia has thousands of nuclear warheads to prevent an existential threat to the Russian state.

IMPORTANT PRESS STAREMENT FROM PALESTINIAN RESISTANCE FACTIONS

spoiler

🟢⚫️🔴♦️🟩 Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movement, Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine, Palestinian National Initiative, and Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine - General Command: —

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Press statement issued by the Palestinian Factions regarding the war of starvation and genocide against our people in the Gaza Strip

The Palestinian factions are following with deep concern and comprehensive popular mobilization the systematic genocide crime that our steadfast people in the Gaza Strip are subjected to, embodied in the war of starvation, widespread bombing, and comprehensive siege, carried out by the zionist occupation government led by the criminal Netanyahu, with direct and blatant support from the American administration, and shameful international complicity and suspicious silence from the European Union and international community institutions.

Our people are entering their twenty-second month in confronting this comprehensive, open war, which has gone beyond bombing, killing, and destruction, to include the use of starvation and medical and humanitarian siege through the deliberate prevention of food and medical aid, in a desperate attempt to subjugate them and break their will.

What the Strip is subjected to is considered a war crime according to international laws and norms, and a crime against humanity by all standards, surpassing in its brutality, criminality, and sadism the crimes of Nazism and Fascism. In the face of these continuous crimes, we affirm the following:

  1. We hold the war criminal Netanyahu and his fascist government fully responsible for the policies of genocide and the war of starvation they are practicing against more than two million Palestinians, in an organized crime that constitutes a blatant violation of international humanitarian law and the Geneva Conventions.

  2. We hold the American administration, as the primary partner and sponsor of the criminal Netanyahu's government, fully responsible for the continuation of this brutal aggression, and for the failure of the negotiation process due to the absence of any serious pressure on the occupation government to stop its crimes.

  3. We denounce the suspicious international silence, especially from the European Union, and consider that the United Nations' inability and the international community's inaction encourage the occupation to continue its crimes against our besieged people in the Gaza Strip.

  4. We affirm that these crimes clearly reveal the intentions of the occupation government, which does not seek calm or agreement, but rather aims to empty the land and impose a project of extermination and forced displacement.

  5. We warn that the continuation of this approach may negatively affect the negotiation process and open the door to escalation possibilities, holding the "israeli" government and its supporting countries responsible.

  6. We appeal to the masses of our Palestinian people wherever they are, our Arab and Islamic nation, and the free people of the world, to intensify popular, political, and media efforts and massive, pressing movements to stop this ongoing crime, end the unjust siege, and break the extermination project carried out by the occupation state with American support and international inaction.

  7. We call on all solidarity activists with our Palestinian people around the world to intensify their actions and unite their efforts to pressure their governments to stop their support and complicity with Netanyahu's fascist government, and to work towards ending the policies of extermination and starvation practiced against our people, and achieving justice and freedom for Palestine.

  8. In light of this tragic scene, we renew our pledge to the masses of our people that, while we feel your pain and suffering, we will continue our efforts to end them, and we will proceed with the option of comprehensive resistance until the siege is broken, the aggression is stopped, and our people's goals of liberation, return, and independence are achieved.

US Ambassador Huckabee did end up visiting Taybeh after getting kicked out of the Netanyahu trial (a few days ago actually I got the timeline wrong before) and sending some strongly worded letters.

https://xcancel.com/GovMikeHuckabee/status/1946563436227539264

Like the people in the replies mention, he does not say who bombed the church, who committed the crime. He's acting just like the NYT despite the Israeli state treating him and his cause like chopped liver.

I think the spat will still deepen as Netanyahu's trial continues, Trump is very much against the trial because he is birds-of-a-feather with the war criminal. Trump wants "the witch hunt" against Netanyahu to end. And Huckabee is the instrument to influence outcomes, the Evangelicals donate a ton of money to Israel voluntarily, and they even travel to Israel to volunteer their labor after Oct 7 (fucking freaks). Hence the vauge threats to mention Israel is unsafe for Christians.

spoilerAmerica talks about "moderate Islam" and "radical Islam". Ok, so what is "moderate Islam"? A "moderate" opposition? A "moderate" Islam? A "moderate" state?

The "moderate Islam" which America demands is an Islam that is devoid of soul, an Islam of just praying and fasting, an Islam of rites and rituals only. The Islam that America demands is an Islam that is devoid of Jihad, devoid of fighting, devoid of resistance. The Islam that America demands is an Islam that does not recognize Jihad, that denies the verses of Jihad, considering it exclusively only to the time of the Prophet (SAW).

The "moderate Islam" that America demands is one that begs acceptance and normalization from the International Community while accepting humiliation and obedience. The "moderate Islam" that America demands is an Islam that separates religion from politics; rather, it seperates religion from society.

The "moderate Islam" that America is satisfied with is an Islam that watches the war on Yemen without saying a word or denouncing! The "moderate Islam" that America demands is an Islam that watches the crimes of the Houses of al-Saud and al-Khalifah without denouncing or rejecting them. The "moderate Islam" that America demands is one that watches the crimes of israel without even issuing a piece of paper that denounces an operation, an act of rape, or a demolition there, and whatnot. The "moderate Islam" that America demands is an Islam that tells you not to support the oppressed in Pakistan, Syria, Palestine, Nigeria, Yemen, and so on.

The "moderate Islam" that America demands is one that does not believe in the Islamic Ummah, that does not believe in the necessity of us supporting each other, and the necessity of protecting the Islamic Republic of Iran, which is an Islamic State.

The "moderate Islam" that America demands is an Islam that differentiates between the Arabs and non-Arabs; an Islam that differentiates betweens Kuwaiti, Bahraini, Iraqi, Indian, Iranian and Turk; an Islam that doesn't believe in "Indeed the noblest of you in the sight of Allah is the most Godwary among you" (49:13).

It is an Islam that believes in Sykes-Picot and not in the Quran!

This is the Islam that America demands, which Imam Khomeini described thirty years ago as "American Islam".

As far as America's opinion about "radical Islam" is concerned, it is an Islam that America does not want; that is, the Islam that the Yazid of our time does not want. What Islam is this? In America, it is called "radical Islam".

Yes! I say again! The "radical Islam" that America rejects is the "radical Islam" against the oppression and tyranny of America. The Islam that America rejects—the Islam which calls for crying, tears, rituals, mowkibs, and the Arbaeen walk—the same Islam that calls to pick up a weapon to sacrifice souls and to stand against the enemies (of Islam).

Today, the Islam that America fights with and rejects is the Islam which believes that the religion is a religion of governance, a religion of authority; it believes in Jihad and resistance, a religion that guides society. As Shaheed Sayyid Baqir al-Sadr described it: "Islam guides life".

The genuine Islam that America rejects is the one that refuses to beg for Western laws, Western culture, and Western theories.

Today as I mention, America is playing a spiteful role and a dangerous conspiracy in misrepresenting Islam. They made ISIS, then ISIS kills. Anything now in the literature of ISIS, for example "Jihad" of ISIS is now rejected by us, the Islamic State is now rejected by us; that's how America has made it for us. "Jihad" now means shouting "Allahu Akbar" and slaughtering. Fighting for the sake of Allah means saying "Muhammad (SAW) is the Messenger of Allah," then ripping his stomach open.

This is what our understanding of Islam has become today. Any slogan that is presented by ISIS, America promotes it as if it is from Islam. As a result, some people—they could be naïve or they could have wicked intentions— they refuse EVERYTHING that ISIS says. What, then, did our religion become? It became the religion of mercy and pity only; neither fierce, confrontation, nor harshness. Who said that our religion doesn't have harshness? "And let them find severity in you, and know that Allah is with the Godwary." (9:123) Yes, against the disbelievers. "And those with him are firm with the disbelievers..." (48:29) If we are good, let there be no severity between us "merciful among themselves" (48:29). In reality, the harshness (severity) is between us and our compassion is for the faithless.

With an American-ISIS plan, the tool is ISIS. ISIS is a means, an evil tool. In all these years that have passed, Al-Qaeda, al-Nusra Front, and ISIS are just practicing aggressiveness, killing, and have changed the slogan of "Allahu Akbar" to represent slaughtering. The phrase "Allahu Akbar" now means something else, and so do other phrases such as "Jihad". If you see a long beard it means something else.

They portrayed the Wahhabis, Takfiris, and ISIS in such a way that many of us did not know how to treat this situation. As a result, the term "ISIS militias" was repeated on the TV — and we kept parroting "ISIS militias" — what did it become later? "The Popular Mobilization Militia", "Hezbollah Militias", "Houthi Militias".

In the beginning ISIS was an apparent goal, then it became a tool (of the Americans). For many of us now, and in the Arab and Islamic world — Inshallah it doesn't exist in Iraq — "Jihad" refers exclusively to ISIS; it falsely includes Hezbollah and the Popular Mobilization Units, and the media is presenting and showing them as "militias" (like ISIS). The result, therefore, is that many people in the world today reject the Popular Mobilization Units, reject Hezbollah, and reject the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The reason for this is ISIS: an evil American conspiracy to misrepresent Islam!

What incident is this refering to? Based and important video as always.

[–] AlHouthi4President@lemmy.ml 19 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Regarding the first part?

Over the past few days footage has come out of Wahhabi takfiri death squads torturing, humiliating, and beheading Syrians in Suweida, Southern Syria.

One of the individuals who filmed himself with a decapitated head was then interviewed by Saudi outlet Al Arabiya for his opinion on the battle. I wish I was making this up.

At the same time that Gazans are being exterminated en masse by starvation, the Wahhabis dont have a single bullet against "israel" but they have time to film themselves committing these horrible beyond comprehension acts.

We live in extremely disturbing times.

Notably bellicose speech from Naim Qassem, leader of Hezbollah, today.

Our strength as a resistance lies in our faith and our stance. Military capability is only a part, and it’s tied to the strength of our position.

If we defend and suffer heavy losses—which is expected—we still have hope. If we resist, we can close the door to the enemy and open a door to liberation.

Lebanon faces three real dangers: Israel on the southern border, Daesh-aligned elements on the eastern border, and American hegemony attempting to control Lebanon, impose guardianship, and paralyze its ability to act and live.

Let our stance be united. Let’s prioritize confronting these dangers. Afterward, we are open to discussing a national defense strategy and a security strategy.

We will not abandon our faith and strength. We are ready for confrontation. We will not surrender or hand over our weapons to "israel."

We know confrontation is very costly—but surrender leaves us with nothing. Learn from what’s happening in the region and the world.

We are ready for defensive confrontation if "israel" attacks.

As long as we live and breathe, “israel” will not achieve its objectives. We can guarantee this because we have an extraordinary popular support base—unprecedented in history—ready to sacrifice for dignity, pride, and Lebanon’s independence.

Speaking openly of the cost of confrontation and the necessity of it. There may be war soon.

Mike Huckabee, the US Ambassador to Israel and of course rabid Zionist evangelical believer in an imminent rapture, has said some mean things to Israel regarding their blocking of visa renewals for evangelical clergy.

According to The Times of Israel, which obtained a copy of the letter.

“If the government of Israel continues to cause the expense and bureaucratic harassment for the granting of routine visas that for decades have been routine, I will have no other choice than to instruct our consular section to review options for reciprocal treatment of Israeli citizens seeking visas to the United States,” Huckabee warned.

https://www.timesofisrael.com/huckabee-threatens-to-declare-israel-not-welcoming-christians-as-visa-row-blows-open/

Note that:

  1. This is about Evangelical Christians ability to obtain visas easily, not about the recent terrorist attack the IDF committed against a church in Gaza. Though you could say the timing is peculiar.

  2. Not in the article, but Huckabee is in Israel supporting Netanyahu (idk how just cheering him on i guess) in his corruption trial. The letter is also not addressed to the PM. So no serious divide will come of this in case that wasn't clear.
