At my old place the people who moved into the floor above us were invited to hang out with us in the back yard, we would have a bonfire pretty much every night. This was mid 2010s and they were your mid 2010s rogan kinda bro dudes that wanna seem smart. They dropped that they were Jordan Peterson fans around about 6 crust punks. Because they were plastic brained early era joe Rogan bros who thought whatever the last thing they heard or read was deeply profound if it's presented right.

I don't know what the deal is with those kinds of people but they always bring up the middle ages and theyre always super super wrong about em. I guess Peterson has a whole bit about the black plague killing so many people raised the 'wage' (their words, not mine) of the average person and that was a good thing. So it was kinda right after that period that wage labor started to even exist and the mercantile class responsibile were the ones who thrived coming out of and during the plague partially because of it and partially they were helping spread it im the first place by cramming people on boats so they can go get shit for you to sell. The people who worked the land had a way worse time cause there were less people doing it and also a lot of people they knew fucking died recently and it was probably real shitty for morale. Especially in regions thar underwent heavy periods of raiding and warfare. When you're saying the fucking Black Death was the good guy all along, your perspective is fucked. Mass death doesn't result in a net good ever.

I basically ranted a them for an hour straight. They did take my arguments and long long historical digressions as serious as they take anyone else with good rhetoric skills and at least absorbed enough to know I knew what I was talking about.
