Or you don't clean at all because you're a dumb, depressed piece of shit that's just rotting away. :(

[–] Asafum@feddit.nl 20 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Took the words out of my mouth. I was literally thinking exactly this before I clicked on the comments and saw it was the top comment.

I finally forced myself to clean the bathroom last weekend after god knows how long and gave myself a nasty sinus infection that I'm still dealing with from all the dust I kicked up lol

I'm sure there's a lesson in there but my depression and idiocy will more than likely override it lol

There’s also never ending laundry.

[–] stinerman@feddit.online 8 points 2 weeks ago

I told my psychiatrist that the most depressing thing in the world is that I'll never be done with laundry. She lingered for a beat and then said..."yeah..."

[–] ummthatguy@lemmy.world 31 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Faaalllkoorr!!

[–] Not2Dopey@sh.itjust.works 28 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

You forgot the never-ending loads of laundry. Every time you do something you have to put a load of laundry in. Then fold it. Then think you're finished with the laundry and go down and put another load in

[–] I_Has_A_Hat@lemmy.world 13 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

A couple of times, I have done my final load of laundry butt ass naked, just so I can have the feeling of knowing that ALL my clothes are clean.

We don't have a dryer and the lines only hold one load of laundry. So every time I know I've done all I can do for 2 whole days. The bliss is enormous. Sucks if I accidentally skip a few days though as it is almost impossible to catch up on a backlog.

[–] Sam_Bass@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

I have 4 laundry bags each with a couple weeks worth of clothes in them and they get rotated monthly

[–] webghost0101@sopuli.xyz 24 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (2 children)

You forget the part where you spend *1/3 of your day (if not more) performing complex operations mostly for the sake of "number goes up" because that is important to something called "the economy".

The part you describe is actually the "free time" part of the day.

[–] meekah@discuss.tchncs.de 8 points 2 weeks ago

Just 1/8? Man, I wish

[–] volvoxvsmarla@sopuli.xyz 7 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

1/8?? What kind of dream job do you have?

[–] webghost0101@sopuli.xyz 9 points 2 weeks ago

Sorry, 1/3 based on the 8 hours of sleep 8 hours of work 8 hours of free time structure.

[–] makyo@lemmy.world 16 points 2 weeks ago

Before Enlightenment chop wood, carry water. After enlightenment chop wood, carry water

[–] mojofrododojo@lemmy.world 8 points 2 weeks ago

laundry and trash and cleaning the kitchen too. it never ends.

until it does and that's sad.

[–] DarkCloud@lemmy.world 8 points 2 weeks ago

What a dream, no laundry, no grocery shopping. Sounds wonderful.

Smart adults pop out a couple of serfs to help with some of the chores.

[–] Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world 21 points 2 weeks ago

My serfs are quiet quitting

[–] Darkassassin07@lemmy.ca 18 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I'm not going to inflict life on two innocent souls; particularly not for selfish reasons like 'I don't want to clean up after myself'.

[–] Saapas@piefed.zip 5 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

They might've not been completely serious

[–] RizzRustbolt@lemmy.world 6 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Life is far too serious for me to take it seriously.

[–] dohpaz42@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

Wise words!

True there's literally (meant in the literal sense) nothing in between these things.

[–] TherapyGary@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 2 weeks ago

[–] tamal3@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

I just bought a robot vacuum. Now I get to be a kid again!!

[–] chocrates@piefed.world 4 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

My house is too messy for a robot vacuum

Same here! And the best part at first is actually watching the thing cleaning the floor for you. Oh the bliss...

[–] tamal3@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago

The night we got it, we were going to watch a movie. Instead, we ended up watching the robot vacuum clean the floor, totally entertained. I have a dog and a cat and so when I have time I try to vacuum but more often than not I just don't vacuum! And we end up with tumble weeds absolutely all over the place. Now when I go to sleep I can click go and the little dude just cruises around picking up all the junk. I love it. It even mops,! Even though I didn't want one that did that, I love it now.

[–] ItsMeForRealNow@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Don't forget about "self care". Whatever the fuck that is. My therapist keeps telling me and I don't get it.

[–] LemmyKnowsBest@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

I think that means keeping our toenails trimmed.

[–] ItsMeForRealNow@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

Yeah maybe.

[–] Aneb@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

Lol I'm abt to clip my finger nails so this is dead on

[–] ragebutt@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 2 weeks ago

It means exercise and playing video games

[–] MissJinx@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago

I refuse to do any of this on the weekends, I only work on my hobbies, so I just spent +5 hours deep cleaning my 3d printers. lol

[–] Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

Then you forget about doing the laundry

[–] Asfalttikyntaja@sopuli.xyz 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

And I can’t understand why we have so hurry to grow up.

[–] yermaw@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 weeks ago

You punk kids have to hurry up and grow up so you can start doing laundry for yourself.

jk I know youll be back every week with a fresh load

[–] Sam_Bass@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

And sweeping the wood floor every time you walk across it

[–] roserose56@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

If you don't like it, you can quit it and open an onlyfans, make millions and vanish. No one forces you to do real adulthood.

[–] jaybone@lemmy.zip 10 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I think this requires you to be female and attractive.

[–] roserose56@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

From one side yes, but today with AI and Photoshop tools, you don't need to attractive.

[–] chocrates@piefed.world 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Ai is gonna collapse porn if we let it.
Who will pay for foot pics when you can have photorealistic foot pics and anything else from big Daddy gpt

[–] roserose56@lemmy.zip 1 points 2 weeks ago

They already doing some AI porn for money. Now I don't know tho, if models generate images and sell them.

[–] Mac@mander.xyz 1 points 2 weeks ago

A messy house wont be the end of the world. Abandon your chores. Go outside.

[–] Digit@lemmy.wtf 1 points 2 weeks ago

If that's the definition, I'm not adult[ing]. :/

Did I skip it? A friend says I'm "retired" (prematurely, because of ailments/disabilities).

Or is this just an ableist definition?
