Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

Half the shit he's done breaks the constitution. Stop him or you wont have a constitution anymore.

The country's already broken. After this orange orangutan is gone, the country will keep fracturing until it turns into two, three or more new countries in the coming decades.

Make it 6 or more countries. Let America Balkanize

Pax Cascadia

Used to be about that until a friend from rural Oregon showed me Jefferson is pretty much the American Reich.

Having said that, Ernest Callenbach's Ecotopia is what bailed the coffin in my move West.

We could always just purge the fascist filth or at least reduce them to the fucking cavemen. Collateral is my favorite type of damage!

[–] blazeknave@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Aye that's the spirit.

Break into regions? PNW, West Coast, New New England, Southwest, Midwest, Alps, Florida.

[–] krooklochurm@lemmy.ca 8 points 1 day ago (2 children)

No homo but I think the west coast should join Canada.

The population disparity is too high. They wouldn't be joining us, in practice it would be the other way around.

Ottawa is out of touch enough with BC's needs, imagine rule from Sacramento.

While I do think they should join Canada I wouldn't argue with your point - the balance of power would almost certainly shift immediately in the province's favour. Like. It wouldn't really be Canada anymore but hopefully some really worthwhile cultural osmosis would take place.

We could kick out Alberta too because Alberta fucking sucks

Probably better to keep California, Washington and Oregon independent and to instead try to setup something like the schengen zone for California, Washington, Oregon, Mexico, Canada, and whatever East Coast regions join up. Mind you I am highly biased as a Californian nationalist and much like the nationalists of the 1800s who wished to bring down the old empires I really don't want to be ruled by some dickhead on the other side of the continent.

pro homo and yes we should

[–] LibertyLizard@slrpnk.net 4 points 1 day ago

Let's hope. Honestly that kinda seems like the good ending compared to what's possible.

Nah, somehow the Robert’s court will find a way to rule that it’s only legal for republicans.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 16 points 1 day ago

Especially if it's Democrats that want to do something for Americans. At least non-centimillionaire Americans. Such as cancelling student debt.

Then it's super-plus double ungood. But if a Republican wants to triple the budget for the ICEstapo to carry out black bag operations on people inside the United States, well that would be doubleplusgood.

[–] N0t_5ure@lemmy.world 18 points 1 day ago

Cute that they think there will be other administrations.

[–] cheesybuddha@lemmy.world 14 points 1 day ago

Administrations? As if there would be more after this one? That seems a bit premature

[–] Ledivin@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Wild swings in policy across administrations? Oh no, not something totally new and unique, the likes of which we've never seen before!

[–] fodor@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 day ago

Maybe your great grandparents saw it. Ask them how it went.
