Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

Spineless punk ass bitches

Complicit punk ass bitches.

[–] starik@lemmy.zip 49 points 2 months ago (1 children)

They don’t give a shit. All they care about is how it affects them politically. Which means they’re also fucking idiots because this isn’t even smart politically.

I guarantee you they’re worried about appearing soft on crime/immigration. They’re stuck in 2015 and I wish we could send them back there.

[–] AcidiclyBasicGlitch@sh.itjust.works 35 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

Seriously this is an unbelievably dumb fucking move. They cannot be this fucking dumb.

More and more I wonder who it is that actually calls the shots for these Democrats? Who is that gives them their orders. Obviously it's corporate donors just like it is with Republicans, but who are they?

Did they really let Venezuela happen because they didn't want to look weak, or do they share the same incentives as Republicans courtesy of the oil industry?

Schumer, at least, has proven himself to be a person who will claim one position in public while encouraging others to do the opposite, which is his real position. He'll take a stand for the right thing only when he knows he has enough people doing the wrong thing that he will be defeated, and then he'll publicly shrug and regret that there was nothing more he could do. He's dishonest and cowardly and does not serve the voters.

Jeffries is just an insubstantial man who blows in the corporate wind. And also just blows.

Then you have people like Ro Kahnna making a very public display of allegedly fighting for equality and justice while Peter Thiel pulls his fucking strings from backstage. Calling for the U.S. to recognize Palestine as an independent state while downplaying his own investments in Palantir and history with other silicon valley billionaires like David Sackler.

It just makes me wonder how many billionaires are actually funding both sides and directing Democrats to play off of each other in this never ending one step forward and two steps back bullshit of calling for the right thing as a publicity stunt, only because they know it will go nowhere and be blocked by a simultaneous counter measure they're running at the same time..

[–] Whostosay@sh.itjust.works 13 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Primary them in a few months. Then, we build an actual party and hopefully redo this whole fucker because this hasn't been working for decades.

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 11 points 2 months ago (3 children)

Primary them in a few months.

This is contingent on democrats running honest primaries.

“We’ll figure out the accountability mechanisms at the appropriate time,” Jeffries told reporters.

Bruh how is it not here and now? If not now, when? if not you, who?

[–] Manjushri@piefed.social 15 points 2 months ago

Yeah, right now send like a pretty fucking appropriate time!

[–] Stern@lemmy.world 56 points 2 months ago (1 children)

If they were controlled opposition what would they be doing different right now?

[–] cactuspunter@lemmy.zip 18 points 2 months ago

This. The democratic establishment functionally appear to serve the same interests as their supposed opponents.

[–] sp3ctr4l@lemmy.dbzer0.com 46 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Fine, fuck it, rope for them too, hang out like Mussolini did.

Fuck these goddamn traitors.

[–] ebolapie@lemmy.world 41 points 2 months ago

There's the Democrats I know

[–] Washedupcynic@lemmy.ca 37 points 2 months ago

Schumner, Jeffries unable to speak coherently with all the donor dick in their mouth.

[–] SabinStargem@lemmy.today 35 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

Schuemer and Jeffries are not just useless, they are intentionally useless fuckwits. As with Johnson, they must be removed from office.

Donorcrats and Turdpublicans alike are traitors.

[–] dreadbeef@lemmy.dbzer0.com 14 points 1 month ago

One might call them controlled opposition

[–] lemmylump@lemmy.world 33 points 2 months ago (1 children)
[–] Maeve@kbin.earth 10 points 2 months ago

All of them are controlled.

[–] Lucidlethargy@sh.itjust.works 28 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (2 children)

The largest blame belongs on the GOP, but let's be clear... Competent democratic leadership could have prevented all of this.

These crooked, shit ass democrats like Schumer, Jeffries, Pelosi - even RGB - are soaked at this point in the blood and despair of the American people.

Whenever I see these two in a picture in my feed I know some pusillanimous bullshit is going down in the Democratic Party without even reading the headline or article

[–] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 23 points 2 months ago

Not a time for a change in leadership but a time to obtain some leadership. Any leadership at all. Sometimes that means at least saying "Fuck You" to the people running this new system of government.

[–] Wytch@lemmy.zip 19 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Tf is wrong with these dipshits

[–] ViceroTempus@lemmy.world 18 points 2 months ago

Controlled opposition.

[–] CmdrShepard49@sh.itjust.works 19 points 2 months ago

They dont give a fuck about the average citizen. These are the same people that voted to slash funding Medicaid just a couple months ago. These are the same people that voted against impeaching Trump a couple months before that. These people want Republicans to pass every shithole bill they can because it's better for their bank account in the long run and the typical rube will blame the Republicans for it happening.

[–] Cenotaph@mander.xyz 19 points 2 months ago

These two croaking would probably do more for the world than Trump. They're incompetent at best and traitors at worst.

[–] WanderWisley@lemmy.world 19 points 2 months ago

Anyone who doesn’t stand on the right side of this issue need to be thrown out regardless of their political views.

[–] Someonelol@lemmy.dbzer0.com 18 points 2 months ago

The Controlled Opposition Party at it again. Showing the world they won't do a damn thing to actually make things better. These corporate and AIPAC sponsored Dems need to go.

[–] danc4498@lemmy.world 16 points 2 months ago

“We’ll figure out the accountability mechanisms at the appropriate time,” Jeffries told reporters.

Uhh….

[–] kittenzrulz123@lemmy.dbzer0.com 15 points 1 month ago

The spineless shitlib corrupt politicians have once again shown their loyalty and its to the capitalist class. Once again those who seek to reform the system are consistently proven little more than controlled opposition.

This is why we must abolish capitalism in its entirety, there is no room to compromise with reactionary filth.

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 15 points 2 months ago (2 children)

To the surprise of absolutely no one.

Incrementalist centrism is woefully inadequate to stop fascism, even if its practitioners were interested at all in doing so.

Go ahead and call them complicit. This probably what they mean when they say they are 'playing the long game'. Idiots.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 15 points 2 months ago (1 children)

IF Dems ever take power again, the first thing they have to do is get rid of these treasonous DINOMAGAs. They are 50% of the reason that MAGA regained power. There is no way the virtuosically incompetent MAGAs should have survived the Biden Administration, they are far too stupid, but they had plenty of help, support, and cover by these two cowardly, insipid little bitches.

Important to remember that Jeffries has ties to the Kushner family. Also Chuck Schumer is in love with and subservient to his imaginary Republican friends.

[–] karashta@piefed.social 13 points 2 months ago (2 children)

If they were compost, at least they would be providing value for the planet.

Just food for thought.

Schumer is the new McConnell. Determined to wreck the efficacy of the Democrats.

[–] mrdown@lemmy.world 11 points 2 months ago

That's why aoc and zohran not endorsing a challanger to Jefferies is so stupid

[–] OshagHennessey@lemmy.world 10 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Of course. The Dems' donors won't allow any real opposition to fascism.

Ineffective and out of touch leadership needs to step aside. AOC really ought to primary Schumer in 2028, but Democrats need different congressional leadership way before then. And Jeffries is so robotic to me. He never has the backbone when it's needed, just like Schumer

[–] Gammelfisch@lemmy.world 8 points 2 months ago

Fuck Schumer, Pelosi and all the old ass Democrats.

[–] Formfiller@lemmy.world 8 points 2 months ago

Both parties are literally owned by the Israeli,s and the same Zionist oligarchs. Until we fix this fact nothing will change

[–] pleaseletmein@lemmy.zip 7 points 2 months ago (1 children)

He’ll write them a strongly worded letter, at least.
