Welcome to the News community!
Rules:
1. Be civil
Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.
2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.
Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.
3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.
Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.
4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.
Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.
5. Only recent news is allowed.
Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.
6. All posts must be news articles.
No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.
7. No duplicate posts.
If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.
8. Misinformation is prohibited.
Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.
9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.
All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.
10. Don't copy entire article in your post body
For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.
"If you can't see his feet, it looks like the car hit him" - their logic
Yeah, people hit by cars famously keep their footing and are stable enough to accurately discharge a firearm. Meanwhile, he shouldn't be walking in front of the car, full stop. So yeah, it's damning but only against his case.
When I'm walking in a parking lot and a car fails to yield to me. If they are close enough for me to smack their car, I do. Gives them a little scare.
I've been in more dangerous situations walking into a grocery store. And I never felt the need to assassinate the drivers. I have WANTED to on occasion. But, somehow I have enough restraint to not to.
If this ICE agent was protecting himself and his fellow officers. Well, then I think I deserve a medal of honor or whatever the civilian equivalent is.
They really do. I've already had this argument on Lemmy. The main sticking point is a vehicle being a deadly weapon. And yes, it can be. But making a non-violent person fear for their life doesn't, or at least shouldn't, automatically give you the right to shoot them if they are in a car and you intentionally step in front of it.
That's always been my sticking point. The agent that shot her is the one who put himself in danger of being stuck by the vehicle. She didn't go out of her way to try to run him over. That's seems plain as day from the video to me. But not to them.
They didn't make Kool-Aid like that when i was a kid! 👀
I'm not sure how old you are but "drinking the kool-aid" has been around since 1978.
A presumption of innocence means that any defendant in a criminal trial is assumed to be innocent until they have been proven guilty. As such, a prosecutor is required to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the person committed the crime if that person is to be convicted.

'Proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt'
I don't need a jury or judge or prosecutor to tell me what my own eyes have seen. That man shot her. Beyond a reasonable doubt. He did it. The only semantics here are if he can get away with it under some stupid immunity rule. Even if he somehow gets off the charges, he killed that woman.
The video if anyone wants it.
Not sure it looks as provoking as they want it to, I'm guessing the other woman's video might also come out.
This is one of the other views: https://lemmy.world/post/41292157
She backed up before she drove off. Not the intention of someone who is trying to hit you.
Edit: Also Reuters has a good write up on angles, people, and views.
In the background, a voice says, “Fucking bitch.”
We need to CAREFULLY and FULLY Dissect each and EVERY Angle to see if this man TRULY Shot a Woman in the Face or Not!
