no but like what fundamentally is a statue of the buddha? does the person who made it have to have the intention of making a statue of buddha? or is it more situational? if it functions as a statue of buddha, then it is.

totally agree, its the worship which matters not the idol

my knowledge of buddhism is very slight, but do they really "worship" the idols? its kinda like christians with the cross, right? nobody is worshipping the cross explicitly, its just a reminder of the faith as a whole

Yeah, there's like a saying, "If you ever meet the Buddha, kill them." but that's specifically zen Buddhism, I never went there or lived it for myself

Depends on the sect and all that. Chinese Buddhism tends to follow the pure land sect and from my very shallow reading into it it does seem a bit similar to christianity

lmao, as someone wallowing in the psychospiritual dungheap of Burgerland, i unironically have a lot of respect for this person's constructed cosmology.

He attained nirvana but still stayed in samsara for a few more sequels to teach us more of his wisdom

Monks, it is just as if a donkey were following right after a herd of cattle, saying, "I too am a cow! I too am a cow!
