Republicans in the US Senate indicated Sunday that they planned to move ahead this week with government funding legislation that includes $10 billion for Immigration and Customs Enforcement after a federal agent gunned down intensive-care nurse Alex Pretti in Minneapolis, a killing captured on video from multiple angles.

"My support for funding ICE remains the same," declared Sen. Pete Ricketts (R-Neb.), a sentiment echoed by other GOP lawmakers ahead of votes on a package of six government appropriations bills approved by the US House last week.

"We're not defunding ICE," said Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) after the horrific shooting of Pretti. "Live with it."

I hope you regret those words you fascist pig.

[–] doug@lemmy.today 59 points 1 week ago

I can’t “live with it” if I’m getting shot you fuck— he picked those words precisely to make that tease.

[–] hector@lemmy.today 8 points 1 week ago

Mike Lee is a piece of shit even by republican senate standards.

[–] TimeSquirrel@kbin.melroy.org 79 points 1 week ago (4 children)

"Live with it"

Gonna say the same when your fucking back is against the wall next to all the other fucks just like you when all this is over? Society destroyed fascism once. We will fucking do it again.

We have to make these assholes start thinking carefully about their words. They need to be looking over their shoulder 24/7 now. I'm fucking done. Ban me for inciting violence, IDGAF. As far as I'm concerned, it's self defense now.

[–] 13igTyme@piefed.social 16 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Why would you say the same? The correct phrase should be, "Die, fascist pig!"

[–] Batmorous@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

He's say sure they will "live with it" but your phrase definitely hits home more

[–] PunnyName@lemmy.world 15 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Bring long guns to protests.

Get more people active everyone and show them what the little Nebraska senator is saying to his constituents and all of us in general

We the people and we the military are not taking this sitting down. Remember that for anyone that still supports ICE sees this

When it passes it will be a bipartisan vote, Chuck Schumer is going to ensure that just enough votes are rounded up to make sure it passes. They love the police state as much as Republicans

[–] Biffsbraincell@lemmy.zip 14 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Yes, the Democrats plan to give ice the money also they just plan to act big mad about it.

This is because they and their donors are the super rich. Which is also who Trump, his circle and Republican donors are. So you see the problem.

[–] Tehbaz@lemmy.wtf 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Which is why Schumer, Jeffries and every corporate Democrat need to lose to progressives in their next primary.

[–] ClassStruggle@lemmy.ml 1 points 4 days ago

Replacing people like Jeffries and Schumer won't change anything, their positions in the party will be replaced by someone willing to keep the status quo unchallenged. No one is ever given any positions of power that may become a threat to the power structure. The only solution is to abandon the duopoly in support of a workers party.

[–] Rivalarrival@lemmy.today 38 points 1 week ago (1 children)

The House passed this bill last week. Unsurprisingly, they got the support of exactly the number of Democrats they needed for it to pass.

[–] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 39 points 1 week ago (1 children)

And Schumer will make sure it gets at least as many as needed in the Senate too.

[–] Batmorous@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

You have to wonder how many people actually do this back then so they can have firearms still since certain left removes it. In way makes sense if they do it for personal protection still doesn't excuse it but it makes sense unfortunately

[–] Almacca@aussie.zone 31 points 1 week ago

"How will we pay for this?" they only ever say when it's something that helps people, like health or education.

[–] whitecollarcry@lemmy.world 28 points 1 week ago

of course it's some old cunt from a flyover welfare state with the tough talk

[–] Soulphite@reddthat.com 22 points 1 week ago (1 children)

America. Government seems to have forgotten who they work for... they need to be put back in their place.

[–] Tehbaz@lemmy.wtf 3 points 1 week ago

Everyone needs to channel their inner Luigi and deal with these cunts.

[–] Batmorous@lemmy.world 15 points 1 week ago

Ah Ricketts you will regret those words. Add them to the list

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 13 points 1 week ago

The conservatives cannot get any more erect, I bet.

[–] Ulvain@sh.itjust.works 13 points 1 week ago (1 children)

So when do we start to expose the pedo-kompromat that someone somewhere is likely holding on these weirdos?

Unless all of them are truly, really, really, really that evil?

Which would make them evil in both scenarios, that's not better... Yuck

[–] hector@lemmy.today 2 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

The justice department has a lot of the childfucking kompromat, if not the videos Israeli intelligence made. One wonders about the cia though presumably they were in on it. By action or inaction. Maybe they were compromised first to allow the bulk honeypot, but they could even have copies of the originals too, somewhere.

Russia claims to have some too according to medvedickhead last summer.

Justice stuff is going to be really well guarded, the incendenary stuff probably filed under random subjects so court orders, prying eyes could not find it, an old trick.

If only a patriot could leak what justice has, unlikely though given the overwhelming pressure to keep it hidden.

’Dems continue to do nothing or cross the isle and vote for it amidst a chorus of well we have no power or how could have known or we are too divided or we want to be tough on crime’

[–] AlecSadler@lemmy.dbzer0.com 12 points 1 week ago

I look forward to watching these people burn to death, slowly.

[–] altphoto@lemmy.today 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

That guy is freakishly tall. Well I met two nice freakishly tall people at the Lego store. Nevermind. Yeah that murdering us issue, let's fund them before they run out of ammo. We can figure out the murdering of citizens at a more convenient time.

[–] altphoto@lemmy.today 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Oh man, they murdered again! I thought they had enough money. We need to give them more money. I give all my money to my wife and she never murders me. So that works.

[–] altphoto@lemmy.today 1 points 1 week ago

Oh my mistake, no murders yet. That's for Fridays. I just farted, I thought it was a murder. Silly me. Its just two murders that we all remember and many more we already forgot about. What's another hundred?

[–] Formfiller@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

I think their priority is to keep up the distraction from the fact that they’re being blackmailed by Israel through the Epstein files. I think they’d rather burn our country to the ground than face consequences for their treachery. In other news we just approved an entire new fleet of fighter jets for Israel paid for by American taxpayers.
