America rocks. This is so cool. I thought this was solar at first but of course it's just a huge parking lot the size of some European cities.

Google maps satellite image showing the hotel a couple hundred meters bellow the stadium, there is also a "American Dream" shopping mall close by which I thought was funny

Yes it's very funny.

How do you legally get to the stadium from your parking spot? Is there a shuttle bus or do you call an Uber?

[–] Sodium_nitride@lemmygrad.ml 18 points 1 day ago (1 children)

It's cars all the way down.

No but surely, if there is no shuttle system (too communist for Americans since you will have to ride with other people), then imagine taking 1 hour to get to the stadium, then calling an uber which also takes 1 hour to get to the stadium so it can pick you up.

Or maybe you have a bunch of ubers also parked out in the same location. Some people, so you need even more parking than usual

They could call it a 'taxi rank'

I found a YouTube link in your comment. Here are links to the same video on alternative frontends that protect your privacy:

no bus, no train, no sidewalks, can only get around in my SUV while sipping a Starbies. People say how the internet disconnected us, well before that they disconnected us with cars.

Meadowlands Sports Complex Station - train station - not wheel chair accessible - temporarily closed

Trains do not run on any kind of schedule during events which is extremely annoying especially if you need to catch a train from Secaucus at a certain time.

But it's cool that they bothered with the train station, they could have easily fitted in another 150 parking spots instead.

lmao that's wild, I don't live there anymore but some of my fondest memories of living in San Diego include taking the train downtown to the Padres stadium for games, it was so nice not to have to worry about finding parking and navigating event traffic (not that they didn't have a parking structure so you could do it the bad way if you really wanted to).

~~Damn on the way to NY~~ (nope, still NJ) you got a little over hundred year old draw bridge on that line. That's pretty cute. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HX_Draw

Wait till the euros come over for the world cup and see this shit

[–] poppy_apocalypse@hexbear.net 41 points 1 day ago (1 children)

volcel-kamala Seriously. The match tickets in the states apparently start in the thousands. Getting around without a car is a pain. You MUST buy health insurance in case of an emergency trip to hospital. There's going to be a huge ICE presence. I don't get the appeal

people are propagandised that amerika is the pinnacle of the western world and they will only find out otherwise the hard way

[–] thethirdgracchi@hexbear.net 5 points 1 day ago

I mean they already did in 1994. It wasn't that much of a shitshow.

There's probably no crosswalk between the hotel and the stadium

I mean it is lame that there isn't a pedestrian bridge or whatever but given the situation it's not a bad sign to have. Trying to cross an actual freeway on foot is insanely dangerous

[–] ClassIsOver@hexbear.net 13 points 1 day ago

They can't even be trusted to pump their own gas. Why would they be trusted to walk on roads?

[–] deforestgump@hexbear.net 15 points 1 day ago

Heaven forbid I run into Steve Tisch and redacted-1 redacted-2

[–] rubber_chicken@hexbear.net 7 points 1 day ago

And this isn't even Phoenix or some shit like that, this is where New York teams play. It's pretty much the only place in the country that's not actively hostile to pedestrians, but once you leave the city proper, I guess you may as well be in Kansas.
