All states are evil, so if a state says another state does evil stuff they probably aren't LYING, they just have ulterior motives for saying so. So yeah the State Dept probably isn't lying about the Uyghur Genocide, that sounds like something a state would do, they're just doing so to distract from the evil shit they're doing.

I just learned about this tonight! Mom was telling the story that she had always been taught that original version until the school was like "Actually you can't say that word. Say tiger instead." She's not racist, (at least not intentionally) and seems like she's trying to be anti-racist too. She just learned that saying as a child and didn't realize it was a word she shouldn't say.
I get it. I was raised in a very queerphobic 80s and 90s, and I said all kinds of casually homo and transphobic things as a kid. I am a trans lesbian today. You have to unlearn the bad lessons you pick up as a kid

How about this: Let's not use the Pooh meme because using Pooh Bear to represent a political leader you dislike is an insult to Pooh himself! The racism is obviously really fucking bad, but also let's not insult an innocent and very sweet teddy bear who just wants his pot of hunny and would give anyone who needs comfort a big ol bear hug, okay?

But I do like reusing it from a commie perspective sometimes. A yellow bear in a red shirt is a commie, that's just funny because so many commie flags are red and yellow. iirc the meme came from chinese posters and it didn't have to be racist if it was just the one image, but people ran with the pooh bear thing because of racism.
Yeah, my problem's not with the original image, because that particular picture did resemble that Pooh and Tigger scene a lot, it's with the way most people in the West ran with Xinnie the Pooh as a pretty freaking racist joke.
